Thought he looked OK - does most things competently. Finally got a replacement for Danny Guthrie.
-
Gouffran is the new Jonas - play him anywhere there's a gap as he works hard. Sad thing he's actually a decent footballer but we're not playing anywhere near his strengths so the fans will start to turn on him through no fault of his own.

Teams look pretty evenly matched to me - should be a tight game

Redknapp has been trying to get him to help out at QPR: http://www.itv.com/news/meridian/update/2014-08-22/redknapp-offers-gascoigne-coaching-role-at-qpr/

Based on the training/bibs theory De Jong will be starting - certainly hope so!

Are we thinking Vurn isn't going to get dropped the moment Tiote comes back now then? Be amazed if so, Pardew has never trusted the lad. I think lots of us are assuming Tiote isn't coming back - we're clearly trying desperately to flog him.

He's not on that level from what I've seen but he looks good enough to do a good job in our side. Only saw him in the 20 minutes or so before he went off injured in New Zealand but you could already see he looked a cut above the rest of our players. Main worry is that it looks like he might be a bit injury prone.

There's actually been a lot of studies on the relationship between intelligence and alcohol abuse and as you might expect it isn't a clear-cut picture: http://alcoholrehab.com/alcoholism/intelligence-and-alcohol-use/ Have alcoholism in the family and have read an awful lot more on the subject than I would've liked - safe to say it's an absolute bitch no matter who you are.

More words of wisdom from Redknapp: "Hopefully he will learn from what he has done but everyone does the tweeting and texting. I don't send text messages, but I do receive them with sick jokes. I don't read them, they make me ill" http://www.football365.com/news/21554/9434210/H-On-Malky-He-Hasn-t-Raped-Anyone- Can't help but feel that he's slightly missed the point

Had exactly the same tune going through my head

One of the first comments: Godfather1981 @Godfather19811 21h @Official_NFFC Even after flapping for their goal? Should have cleaned them out and claimed that ball! #nffc You've got to love football fans

He's on Twitter as well - let's get this bandwagon rolling!

Bit of a tendency to underrate our players on here imo. When Tiote struggles it when he tries to do too much as the rest of our midfield has a tendency to go AWOL - at Arsenal he would just need to win it and give it, a job he's very good at.
-
Will be really pissed off if Tiote goes. Think he would do well at Arsenal, they always struggle in games against the other top teams, exactly the kind of game he often excels in.
-
Villa's goal against Stoke was their only shot on target at the weekend so we're in for a real thriller here.
-
On a flight while this is on so will miss the whole thing and I couldn't be happier about it!

We've actually crept off the bottom of the "last 5 years net transfer spend" table this summer: http://transferleague.co.uk/league-tables/transfer-league-table-last-five-seasons.html Although if Tiote does go we'll be right back down there. Look at the state of West Ham!

Here we have one of them. Found him. He was hiding in plain sight all along!

If you only start counting after we sold Cabaye we're positively spunking money all ower the shop

Pretty sure Tiote will come out way on top of that as well - whatever people's criticisms of the lad may be you can't deny he gets involved!

TBF he's always going to cut in from the left and I have no problem with that. My problem is that Gouffran is going to seek the inside as well and just congest it. We have no fluidity down the left and haven't had it for a long time and the problem for me usually isn't Santon but the player in front of him who always seem to be given more defensive responsibility than he should. It's a canny point - Santon might work better behind an out-and-out winger like Aarons. Agree that he is our best left back by a distance.
