That assist was gorgeous of course, and that finish on what was a deceptively difficult chance. The ball was a little bit behind him and the way he sorted his feet out to hit it was just lovely.

Dubravka's been great for us. He's legit and can certainly do a job in the premier league. We have an unfortunate tendency to hang our keepers out to fucking dry, and he doesn't cope with that as well as Pope does.

It works fine in football. In England, in particular, there seem to be issues. It almost looks like self sabotage but it's probably just incompetence. I for one have no interest in returning to the days of constant bad calls favoring big teams. It's better now than it was, but a bad VAR call gets more attention than a bad call in the old days because now there's an expectation to get it right.

Got to love the historic records too, Newcastle are 7-4 against the West Shropshire Roveringtons, having last played them in the old second division back in 1958. Or like, Newcastle hasn't beaten the Roveringtons in almost 50 years (they've been in different leagues for 49 of those years). Fucking great.

I don't see why they wouldn't push on with her until they have some reason not to. I know it doesn't mean much, but I will say that in the interviews I've read with her she seems like an absolute killer. The exact kind of winning obsession you see in top coaches. There's no reason why she can't grow with the team and get to the top levels, especially bringing in talent around her.

Plus Bruno saying after that is the first time he's ever scored a header, even as a kid

Thank god we've got three goalkeepers in the squad again this week, that shit was making me nervous!

I never really saw the point in bringing him back in "late April", which iirc was the club's best case scenario not any real concrete expectation. In any case, why bring him back for the last four games of the season and rush all his rehab etc. Makes more sense to me to just focus on having him fit for pre season. I mean, I know we're shit without him, but that ship will have sailed anyway by "late April".

Did anybody really think he was coming back?

Quarterbacks aren't really running around jumping though, especially a pocket passer like Rivers. If he's making a cut during a game something has already gone horribly wrong.

I imagine if we get promoted the summer will look similar to last summer, with a half dozen new signings from the championship/wsl. We essentially sign players for free for the women's team so we seem to be going all out. Fun as fuck if you ask me.

What the fuck did I just watch? Concacaf gold cup women's semi final versus Canada, truly bizarre stuff. Some highlights: *Standing water on the pitch, so much so that a Canadian backpass travels about ten yards and stops dead, allowing the US to score *A penalty in stoppage time of the second half of extra time, conceded after VAR review determined that the US goalkeeper executed a double punch to the face of an attacking player, allowing Canada to equalize. *The Canadian player who scored the last minute penalty then has a horrible attempt saved in the shootout. *The US goalkeeper saves three penalties total, all hit to the exact same spot, waist high just to her right. Three truly terrible penalties. *US goalkeeper also takes a penalty, third in the rotation. Fair play to her, she put it just inside the post. All in all some of the weirdest shit I have seen in a while, and I only watched the last fifteen minutes...
