  1. But surely the bar has now been set. If we did it and got fined 10 points we could just appeal and use this example and get it reduced to six which is what Everton have done using the 10 points deduction from the EFL rules. There's absolutely no chance a club can do the same as Everton and get a bigger points deduction and not win an appeal is there?
  2. Definitely seems to have be an issue between Eddie and the flower pot Dan. If so then this situation will work out even better for us.
  3. The nerve of him just walking into the PL and start telling other clubs what they should and shouldn't be doing
  4. What the fuck is that graphic. Players in numeric order and not position but starting on 62? No captain icon? Jesus Christ my eyes
  5. Clubs up and down the country now redrawing contracts for their director of football to include clauses such as "if Newcastle approach you a £30m fee or 5 years gardening leave will apply"
  6. It's not so much they scouted where nobody is looking they had a data model that could find players who had value. For example players who's buy price was much lower than it should be or who's talent is much better than the level or league they were playing in. Couple that with the data that suggests they would fit in well in the PL and you're onto a winner. This is absolutely the future of football scouting and we need to get up to speed. Brighton owner was years ahead of everyone and it's how his made so much money and became so successful. Same applies to Brentford.
  7. Alright Henry chill out mate, he ok'd the signing of a lad with a gambling problem and a young left back who can't get in the team. Meticulous my arse.
  8. We've really got to negotiate hard with this one. We'll look weak as piss if we let him join them straight away and for a small amount.
  9. I think from a pure footballing squad sense Eddie is far more valuable to us long term than Ashworth tbh. He took Bournemouth up through the leagues with zero cash. For a club Ashworth can excell at building the structure, something that he's already done here, for a club with limited budget he will keep it on a sound footing (Brighton) but thankfully with our owners we can invest whenever and whatever within our restrictions. Something we don't need years of planning from a DOF to be able to do. The crucial thing for us was getting our scouting and youth set up strong and Ashworth seems to have done some great work in that regard with the staff positions that we have acquired. Long term though Howe will keep us competitive on the pitch with or without Ashworth being here.
  10. Just had a look and lots of reports saying he resigned. If we did have to pay compensation then it must have been a clause in his contract with Brighton. Hopefully he has the same here.
  11. Every injury we suffer seems like it's 2 months + Just absurd. The worst season for injuries for any club I can remember.
  12. What happens if he resigns? Gardening leave but no compo? Think he resigned at Brighton in order to get the job here so we can't fuck around to much.
  13. I'm sure there were strong rumours about us wanting Campos before we hired Ashworth too.
  14. More upset that there's a chance he could stabilise that circus that is Man Utd more than actually losing him tbh Our owners have been very good at bringing in good staff so have every faith they will put a top person in his seat.
  15. Lot of people saying it's £6m compensation. No idea where that figure has come from though as I haven't seen that reported anywhere.
  16. Has to be back soon now? Interested to see if he comes back in and starts getting more minutes than Hall.
  17. I think if there's anything giving Ashworth doubts about staying it's the FFP position. No matter how good you are if your hands are tied behind your back it's going to piss you off eventually in a position like his. However he's at the start of a massive massive project and one that he could be instrumental in with things eventually getting built exactly how he wants. Personally think he would be crazy to jump ship now but if he does I'm sure our replacement will be top class. Maybe that Edwards fella who Liverpool wanted? Didn't he turn them down?
  18. "Newcastle fear Ashworth to leave, yet a source close to Ashworth says he's happy to stay" "And in other news the WORLD WILL END but the date is yet to be confirmed."
  19. Will never forgot how he acted during our takeover. Was a proper little puppet for the big 6 and dragging things out for as long as possible so he could keep his best pals Levy and co satisfied.. The one good thing Ashley done was throw the legal book at masters and the PL and they couldn't handle it. Man City will have a field day.
  20. I've always really liked a 3-5-2/5-3-2. When defending you can park the bus and have the width to hit the opposition on the break. When you have the ball you can use the flanks or tuck them in and overload the midfield. Obviously need the right players for it but it gives you many options and styles of play very quickly.
  21. That 10 mins injury time was so frustrating. So much time wasting during that and nothing extra added on to what it should have been.
  22. Ah shit, fair point Decent deal that for Fulham though.
  23. Surprised we didn't go for this especially after the Isak injury scare.
  24. Been lacking one since Tonali got banned. Out flat midfield 3 gets bypassed or cut open so easily and then they're in on goal. Huge problem for us this season and our strong interest in Phillips at least shows we're trying to solve it. Just can't see us signing one this window.
