With Man Utd losing again today, maybe not sacking Bruce will turn out to be a master stroke, when Man U sack OGS, and then come in for Bacon boy.
-
Not sure if its been quoted in any of the online interviews, but Tyne Tees news showed part of the Presser where they asked him if they won on sunday he'd like to shove the result back in some peoples faces, and he said yes he would. Unbelievable, that we sit 19th, 0 wins this season, and he still seems to think the criticism he's received, and calls for his sacking are unjust. https://www.itv.com/news/tyne-tees/2021-10-15/steve-bruce-to-stay-in-charge-for-1000th-game-as-manager
-
"I've tried to keep me respect and me dignity" Then proceeds to disrepsect the journalists on the call. Absolute cretin.
-
Only surprised that if it is his last presser, he didn't manage to shoe horn another dig at Rafa in.
-
Nah, even if he's not gonna call from his sacking, I doubt even Shearer would push for him to be kept on longterm, as he'll see his failings. Ultimately, Shearer will want the best for the club to push on, especially under these new, ambitious owners, and will know they can and will do a lot better than Brucey.
-
I hoped he'd be gone already and/or by Sunday, still do. But if he isn't, so be it. Give him his 1000th match, and lets hope we win and he can sign off (and F*ck off into the sunset) on a win, like Pardew did.
-
Hopefully tomorrows day off will allow them to make the decision and bin him. Then on Friday, Graeme Jones can take media duties ahead of the weekend. Is it telling that Bruce had an interview planned based around his 1000th match earlier this week ( ) but it was postponed/cancelled?
-
Aye, this could also be him saying goodbye to the players/staff there as well, having had the call last night. See what time he leaves today, I guess. EDIT: He's rocked in earlier than yesterday, I suppose.
-
I still think he'll be gone this week, maybe the next day or two at most. It probably wouldn't have been a good look, for AS/MG to go down to Benton, meet everyone but then give Bruce his cards whilst all the players were there. More than likely he'll be called to SJP, or even just phoned at some point to tell him his fate, now they've formally met. Given the teams form, there really is not reason to keep him on. He's had 7 league games and won 0. And as above, the team would benefit from a party atmosphere on Sunday with a crowd fully behind the team and the dugout, and as above, he would just be a dampener on that.

Could almost be a social clerb.

Don't mind Winter, but this line jumps out... "he deserves some respect for working under the financial strictures of the Ashley regime" He'll have known exactly what he was walking into when he took the job, so no, he doesn't deserve any respect for working under conditions he'll have known about beforehand. Also, those 'financial strictures' saw him have circa £125m spent on the team in the time he's been there.

Just found this pic online... My god, the things we did to have an up to date shirt!
-
Exactly. It's not like we've just had an average start to the season, and whilst new owners want their own man, they let the manager continue till they can secure someone. The current bloke is the reason we are 19th without a win to date, so he has no justification to stay on, especially not just for a milestone game.
-
Guess the ASM thing could be a worry. Did he not say he liked Bruce, and the suggestion being that Bruce let him get away with being late for training and that, and jet off to France when he wanted? Hopefully if he wants to be here for our new start, then he'll accept he might have to toe the line a bit more?

Sorry if already posted... ?

It was from Greenalls to the breweries Blue Star when John Hall (magpie group) took over, on the umbro barcode shirts, and aye, it was a patch with the blue star and a black band behind it to hide the 'Greenalls'.

... when Kenny Wharton sat on the ball against Luton. edit: just seen someone else mentioned this but saying against Watford, but it was defo Luton at home, and it was because we were 4-0 up and they had done similar shithousery when they beat us on their placca pitch earlier in the season.

Caulkin says it has to stay 'for a short time' as part of the deal. Hopefully a final televised match at the most.
