That was just dismissed on SSN (Downey). If we did go higher, and Peace did cave at the last minute, could be do a deal 'subject to medical', get the paperwork done and finalise it tomorrow? Straw clutching, of course.
-
SSN now saying Chelsea may allow Remy to go (to Leicester) on loan. EDIT: Too slow
-
Kenny Wharton spotted at Newcastle Airport. (one for the oldies)
-
Right, well we should now be full steam ahead and securing Remy before 11pm. But we wont.
-
Really ain't seen much of him since he left (apart from that stint in goal up here).... but on loan, or on a nominal fee at this stage of the window, i'd take him back, like.
-
Thought it was later than that, about 8pm?? Nah, definitely about 5.30-ish, as remember they discussed it on Total Sport same day, when he was on his way for medical.
-
Silly really, but cant see them wanting to pay £12m (or more) for a 29 year old.
-
Was that the same window when we allegedly tried to hijack the Bryan Ruiz deal? Missed out because Ashley Helicopter wasn't allowed to park in a certain place, or summit??!!
-
Not surprised. The email will have been covered in SD.com adverts.
-
So now he has a knock. No doubt the fax is unplugged, and the club computer has an 'out of office' message on the emails, as well. They really are desperate to keep him.
-
Rumours that Rhodes to Boro may be back on.
-
Wasn't a £24m bid mentioned last night?
-
Said it last night, this might turn out like the Carroll deal, where we said repeatedly he wasn't for sale. Then the offer got to £35m and Carroll (allegedly) put a transfer request in. I guess if Berahino wants the move and WBA hold firm, it may take him to put a request in, then WBA can say he forced the issue. Then again, they may still keep him... they don't seem to mind having an unhappy player as it stands, so..
-
I'd love us to win the Berahino race, but given WBA seem hell bent on not selling to us, I fear we spend all day waiting on them and it leaves us little/no time to go to plan-whatever. Would certainly welcome Remy back on a permanent deal, but now people know we have (at least) £21m to spend, then any alternative to Berahino isn't going to be cheap.
-
Next step, Berahino puts in a 'transfer request', the bid is accepted, and then it looks like West Brom had their hand forced by the player. Where have I heard this before?
-
Was he another of Graham Carr's findings?
-
Even Stuart Pearce isn't an option anymore!!
-
It could end up a bit like the Carroll transfer. If I remember right, we turned down bids from Spurs near the end of the window and repeatedly said he wasn't for sale, then on deadline day Liverpool came in and started throwing offers at us. Only so many times you can say no... before you end up saying... WTF?? YES!!!
-
Was just about to post the same - not like Edwards' has an agenda to try and discredit this bid.
-
Suppose depends if Stokes bid is all up front as well, or instalments.
-
Potentially 3 NUFC players in the England Squad at the Euros? (if this happens, that is..... and then Berahino, Townsend and Shevley have stormers the rest of the season)
-
SSN: "We understand NUFC bid is £21m up front... not in installments"
-
SSN: NUFC have made £21m bid for Berahino
-
£11m is a lot for a Championship club to spend on one player if they don't get promoted - maybe they wanted to be able to offload him or reduce his wages if they don't go up this season? You have to wonder why with his scoring record, he hasn't been signed by a Premiership club yet, though.
-
Was asking a mate who's a Spurs fan about him... says he can be a decent player on his day, but he can't cross a ball. Great... just what you need in a winger.
