Aye, its mentioned on that 'Two Tribes' thing.... Loads of them resentful about the whole 'Tyne & Wear' thing, where they say Newcastle got all the money spent on it, and Sunderland got nowt.

3 match ban for handling outside the box? thought it was one match for a straight red unless violent conduct, then three' ridiculous Its only a 1 match ban for Bunn... http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11709/8577941/Premier-League-Norwich-fail-with-appeal-over-goalkeeper-Mark-Bunn-s-red-card

What would FIFA say about this, though? Fifa agree apparently http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/9198568/Fifa-says-FA-could-take-retrospective-action-next-season.html That's from April 2012, following the Balotelli/Song incident, where FIFA told the FA they could change their rules about retrospective bans in summer 2012. As we have seen today, the FA clearly chose not to.
-
Ah, that's ok then. Callum, you're forgiven.
-
At the end of the day, regardless of what the officials did or didn't see at the time, TV replays and photographs afterwards have proven that the challenge was reckless, OTT, a potential leg breaker, etc and it should have been punished once that became clear, even after the event. Its not about re-refereeing the game or undermining the officials, as they put it, and no it wont give us 3 points or change the result - it should have been about sending out a message that those kind of challenges aren't acceptable, and potentially protecting other players from that kind of challenge.
-
Apologies if its been mentioned/clarified, but Mick Lowes also said on Total Sport, that any talk of legal action against McManaman (like that between Anichibi and Nolan) would have to be instigated by Haidara himself, not NUFC.
-
There was just a fantastic ding-dong on Total Sport between Mick Lowes and Gabbiadini - well worth another listen later. But at the end Gabbiadini said he'd seen tackles just as bad as McManaman by players at NUFC and SAFC, and cited Cabaye as an example. Have to say, had me shouting and swearing in the car on me way home from work.
-
Wigan coach also charged with misconduct. WOO-HOO!!
-
Breaking: The FA have over-ruled Roy Hodgson and cancelled Steven Taylors England call-up. Wouldn't surprise me.
-
Feel as sick as when the tackle happened with this news. Felt sure the FA would take retro action, given how clear cut it was. Speechless, really. Its an absolute joke.
-
Heard something on the radio this morning, where Dermot Gallagher has said the tackle may yet go unpunished by the FA, as it was an 'on-the-ball' incident. WTF? So its ok to go studs up, knee high as long as the ball is there to be challenged???
-
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/21823350 BBC saying the FA set to take action today, and expected him to be banned for 'at least 3 matches'.
-
Sorry if this has been said, but just seen Martinez' comments on the sky sports news banner. "He's not that kind of player"..... "Tackle wasn't intentional".... "Callum will apologise"..... "Don't expect the FA to ban him restrospectively"

On this stream the kerbcrawler was saying that Perch's challenge was reckless and should have had a red card. FFS??!!!!

The Bacon thing is from a programme called 'Two Tribes' (clips can be found on Youtube), about the Tyne-Wear football rivalry. At the start, a Newcastle fan claims he wont eat bacon as its red & white. Obviously, this is now Mackem-lore, and every Newcastle fan refuses to eat bacon for that reason, too. The programme/clips also feature a Mackem who changed his name to have 'Sunderland AFC in the middle.
-
There is also a clip on youtube from Tyne Tees news at the time, of Mackems saying they'd no longer be shopping at Sports Direct (or whatever they were called at the time) when Mike Ashley took over NUFC.

When I first heard about it, I'd read it was opening as 'Shearers' was due to undergo a refurb. So not sure how longterm it will be, and if there is an intention to ever keep both bars at the ground.
-
The new bar at St James' Park won't now be called 'Bobbys', and will now be called 'The Terrace' instead.... due to open for the Fulham match. Apparently Lady Elsie objected to the name of the bar as another tribute, with the statue and memorial garden already.

Cisse onside for once!! GTF in!!!!

They have 9 games left.... this is Kevin balls' record with 10 games left, last time... http://i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag126/TK-421-NUFC/ballocks_zpsf4299e6e.jpg The Messiah!!

Selective memories. Marty's too timid - they think the answer is someone who will shout at and bully the players.
-
Aye, just listened to him... he reckoned they need 38 points to stay up... if they dont beat Norwich, they are doomed, but why not beat Norwich and then get the other 5 points??!! Genius!! EDIT: Current caller calling Marty to be sacked, and Kevin Ball to be installed to motivate their players. Aye, because that worked in 2006, didn't it??!!!

Total Sport post match phone-in is..... amusing tonight. Tide has definitely turned about O'Neyll.

Gazza out of Rehab, and on the way home... http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/4830635/Back-on-track-Gazza-jets-home-from-booze-rehab-in-US.html For some one with such a serious drink problem, he doesn't seem to have been in rehab too long. Anyway, I hope he can stay off the drink now, but... who knows?.
