  1. Agree that if clubs change their minds they shouldnt be allowed straight back into their domestic leagues. But what about transfer fees and wages. Both of these are already distorted without the super league. Superleague wages will be astronomically high. Who outside of the superleague, is gonna buy a player from that league using their reduced tv rights budget?? When they say its a closed shop, that could be exactly what they mean. for clubs and players. Make them agree to licences that say if they don't join from one of the 'super' teams academy or from one of the other 'super teams', they are not eligible to play in domestic leagues. Also total squad sizes (including under21s) to be limited to 40, and loans to be abolished barring the exception that a team would not be able to field a team without one Yes there's probably some EU fair trade garbage in there, but if the non top -6 grow a spine it could be doable...especially as we may not be bound by EU law for much longer
  2. Saint-Max has a trick that everyone sees coming, but cant stop it. Hatem had a trick that no-one saw coming and the sat on their behind wondering what the hell just happened.
  3. Even Andy Gray has noticed how terrible watching us is.
  4. No-one knows what's going on in the background. As much as I want to believe Mimms he hasn't actually given any info of note. If he/she knows enough to know there will be a statement then surely he'd have an inkling of the content regardless of which way it goes, or at least caveat that his 'source' couldn't/wouldn't say Personally, i don't think we'll hear anything at all this week, and Mimms will be hounded off the forum EDIT...Ill refrain from comment in future if wrong
  5. How is it? A bit Porcine for those of Arabic persuasion. Must have been a publicity stunt planted by Qatari's, or is it just a mis-directional plant to make people think things are off? I'll keep my faith that the sandwich is a sign that the takeover will happen
  6. I also bought a sandwich today. Not sure if relevant to takeover but will announce next week
  7. Do have to wonder if any of our players actually watch recordings of the matches they play in. Surely if they did they couldn't say they play well with a straight face. The Saint is exempt obviously
  8. Exactly this. If Bruce had complained we'd sat back too much you can bet your life that Lascelles would have echoed that if pushed for an opinion. Actually I would have less of a problem if Bruce had always preached the mantra of defensive football, but he's laid the blame for it at Rafa's door, then every time we let a few in, turns out we were too attacking. He has absolutely no principles. My issue is that he is implying we should be defending purely 'because its Man Utd'. Disregard the fact Bruce has them playing the same way every game anyway. It indicates a fear of big names and/or reputations....ok for a kid or someone called up from the reserves, but the captain should be fronting up on this and calling a bad performance a bad performance. Man Utd spanked us a fair few times in the early 2000's but you'd never have heard Shearer (as a player) coming out after one of them saying we should have defended deeper because it was Man Utd. Edit...it's comments like that which have probably seen him ignored by England. As much as Southgate has his faults if he sees an inherent fear in a player then he's right not to call him.
  9. No self respecting team Captain should be showing this 'know your place' attitude in public at least. Yes it might have been Man Utd, but they aren't the all conquering force from the 90's, and have certainly shown they can be gotten at by not simply sitting back
  10. Short term it might increase revenue, but domestic audiences would lose interest pretty quickly I'd think. Wouldn't think most of a UK audience would be crawling over themselves to watch Dortmund vs Lyon for a league they've no interest in. Yes I know there are die-hard purists who will watch any football on TV but they aren't the majority. Obviously if this ever got the go-ahead it would be a subscription, but unless your own team was involved would you really be looking to pay for it, or just take it in if it happened to be on in the pub (post covid clearly)
  11. Bit harsh just because someone has an opinion, regardless of how wrong you think they are. At least he's consistent....Not liking Bruceball does in fact make you stupid apparently
  12. looks like a 5-aside goal where all the players fancy themselves as re-incarnations the best Brazilians. Nice on screen but could they do it on a cold Tuesday night in Stoke?
  13. By advertising hundreds of games, £60 per month comes over as a real deal, even if most games aren't watched. 38 games for £60 per month is not a good deal. The added costs of advertising each channel individually, the added commentary teams and pundits. The 20 clubs currently promote the brands of the PL, FA, and the broadcasters. None of them are going to reverse that relationship. This is what Sky/BT and the Premier League want you to think, and promote it shamelessly and relentlessly. It's only a good deal if you're interested in watching teams outside of your own... I'd never even consider paying £60 a month when i might only watch 1 in 10. For me that's a crap deal. For some it might be ok. Plus having 20 individual channels would do nothing but increasing advertising Perhaps ditching the current model and making every match ppv might be better....albeit not at £15 a pop. As much as i'd only watch Newcastle on TV I think i'd object to paying £15 to the current team against most of the league
  14. Why would any Newcastle fan want the League Cup to be scrapped? It's one of only two trophies we could ever realistically have a chance of winning Well only until the quarters/semis when we come up against Arsenal/Man City Reserves and generally get publicly humiliated playing a full strength team who cant string more than one or two passes against players not considered good enough to play for them most of the time
  15. Genuine question... Why would anyone pay a monthly fee to Sky/BT/Amazon, just to watch other teams most of the time? I don't, but even if i did I would only watch the Newcastle games, and have no interest in watching a Southampton/West Ham tie, just because it happens to be on. At a push I'd watch a title decider. If greed could be ignored (I know, i know) then surely a good option would be let people buy 'TV season tickets' for their own teams, but still keep the total broadcast revenue evenly distributed whilst allowing every individual match to be ppv. So say you have the TV season ticket for Newcastle, you pay the given subscription, but if you happen to want to watch Man U v Liverpool or whoever, pay a bit more to get that on top. Alternatively just don't give clubs any of the direct TV revenue and let them generate cash purely through attendances, sponsorship, and a share of the income generated by the specific viewership of their match (yes i know full well they'd never agree to this!), and that would encourage genuine ambition rather than relying on x millions just for being in the league. This was would have seen Leicester rewarded paid handsomely for the last few games of their title season, and genuinely reward their achievement, which was never fully appreciated because the weren't 'Big 6''. As loathsome as it is, I'd rather let Sky keep all the cash from broadcasting rights just to make some decent TV.
  16. First time I've ever wanted Hughton to fail. I wish nothing but misery and pain on Forest
  17. Easiest answer is it happens to be a minor coincidence. Would there be any conversation how he was doing something with Man Utd if it happened to be a couple of bottles of Boddingtons, and a bottle of red wine? If he posted the pic With blue pop, cheesy chips, some keys, a shit and a Chinese inbred, who do you think it would be referring to? His plan to have a heart attack before finishing the PIF case? Or that he's actually a crap lawyer and cant afford to make his own luxurious blue drink, furnished with blue cheese loaded triple cooked chips, a lack of a modern security system, and an inability to get some decent duck pancakes

  19. From Football365....they seem to get it "Last week’s 1-1 draw at Tottenham illustrated one of the most fundamental yet still under-appreciated truths of human existence, which is this: Newcastle under Steve Bruce are totally just winging it, all the time. The Toon have scored with 100% of their shots on target in the Premier League this season. They somehow have four points from three matches. A nonsense of a team"
  20. Didn't even realise Longstaff was playing tbh. Can't remember seeing him get the ball once
