Considering some of the bilge we've put up with over the years Almiron was good...yes not the most skilled, yes probably the most one footed player in existence, but he always gave effort and looked Like he enjoyed being here and did give a contribution to several spectacular moments. He'll never be a great but should be remembered well

Don't wind me up with such hope...

Exactly my point about Luuk de Jong earlier....he could miss an open goal from 2 yards out....gets an xg of 1. Still no goal...pointless stat... Robert hits a 45 yard screamer....hits the bar goes over xg 0.001. Still no goal irrelevant. Robert repeats same trick vs spurs (who else) scores...xg 0.001, goal Perez miss kicks in midfield, it bounces of Diames heel...goal. xg -20. Goal. Counts. Andersson...open goal, no defender, no gk, xg 1. Trips over a slightly long blade of grass.
-
You are perfectly describing my point...but xg is just a fancy way of showing "shots on target vs total shots". Unneeded, unnecessary and worthless
-
Just an example...even if it was up there the vast majority would still head back to the town centre for food and drink. Like i say its not like its a massive or difficult journey...hell you could probably walk it in 20 minutes assuming the Carling hasn't shriveled your kidneys

It absolutely isn't daft. PSG did not make an offer. A club owned by our owners offered an ridiculous amount for a striker who no one else bid for at all. So if it goes through what has happened is PIF have directly given a rival of their supposed "top football priority" a direct 60m boost to piss on their own faces
-
A new stadium is the only realistic option if we want to compete. Yes a few saddos might have to walk a few hundred metres more for their pint of cheap pissy lager....boo hoo. An extra 20/25k will more than compensate for Billy Hates His Wife so has to come. We don't live in the frigging wilds...yes transport insn't perfect but if you want to watch a match you'll manage it. Having a pint before the match is nice, but it's not why I go Even if we were moved to the wilds of Gosforth Park or wherever, if I want.a drink after a match I'll still go to town. Its not like it's on Mars.

So we might be able to afford a loan for a League 1 youngster now?
-
I would like to see anyone who says xg means anything hung drawn and quartered. It's like saying using last week's lottery numbers mean I will win this week. Useless shite the tv companies use to drive a conversion where there's nothing to be had
-
So our owners have just authorised a 60m boost to a club who are debatably one of our biggest rivals and best chance of disrupting the shady six...either they've got some serious 4d chess going on or just want a presence in the PL. We are starting to look like a foot hold and nothing more.
-
This will be where Al Hilal come in for Isak bidding 20m and we get told to be greatful for being offered that much. With how dodgy football finances are now I would not be remotely surprised
-
Well let's just assume we are skint, meanwhile our owners are bankrolling their domestic clubs to inflate the coffers of our rivals by paying stupid amounts for their second choice strikers. One of ours goes there for about half market rate and there's an investigation??? Something stinks... cui bono?
-
Exactly what I've been saying...so many contradicting reports about where we are no-one actually seems to know
-
The exact same guy who couldn't strike a ball more than more than 3 yards for us
-
Statistics are also not an indication of what will happen, just what has happened, so virtually irrelevant as an indicator of how good a team is. Stick Luuk de Jong 3 yards out from an open undefended goal 5 times in a game probably gives an xg of 5....but we all know real goals would still probably be 0
-
Which doesn't answer the question... Same set of numbers in front of two different reports...one says it means we have to sell as currently breaching psr, one says it means we can buy as well within psr.... I need to lie down
-
Might get rid of the Isak BS once and for all....good move by the Mysterons
-
It's Captain Black
-
Which is exactly why xg is worthless. A plain and simple better metric is shots on target.
-
Because it's irrelevant and meaningless? It's like saying i might have won the lottery with my xg of y if the number that came out was 6 instead of 7. Great for historical reviews but irrelevant over 1 game and even less during a game. One crappy ass deflection that bounces off a beach ball, the referees arse and the back of a goalkeepers head still counts as a goal despite probably being negative xg
-
OK if it's that basic and plain how much are we able to spend?
-
None of it adds up anywhere...undisclosed fees, share injections, Amortisation, match by match bonuses, performance related sponsors....I'd be amazed if anyone has a figure close to to reality for any club let alone us. It's an accountants game now which just happens to be played out on a pitch
-
Same calculations by others show we still need to sell. Basically no-one outside of NUFCs accountants actually know. We could be skint or could have millions to spend. Let's see how creative they can get

CDOs last comment here is the vital one....consistent increases in growth can only be maintained with a large enough environment and enough fertiliser to do it....we have neither, so we need cheat factors like GM and hyper efficient/new fertilisers. Basically need a new Haber-Fitch process to triple output with minimal effort. In a closed system which we realistically have innovation is the only way to move up
