Rice aside who have West ham brought through? if I’m the player or the players agent I’ll be looking for Salary/bonuses plus release clause. The romantic era is long gone, football is a business players know this, the owners definitely know it.

If you look at things in purely sporting terms sure, west ham is better but given both teams are unlikely to win anything it doesn’t matter. in fact, given West ham seem ok financially it’s like the would struggle to move on if things go well due to demand a high fee. Also, maybe it’s a case of Everton offering a high salary plus release clauses as they have the weaker negotiating position than west ham.

Fair point, I was contrasting the thought of us getting one of the best creative players in the league with a player who appears to be nobodies priority despite being relegated and having a relatively low release clause. We do need to be careful though, we can’t afford too many minor upgrades who we can’t flip for a profit later down the line. I know I’m a broken record but I fucking hate FFP it’s such a bullshit concept, especially for a league/county which prides itself on competition and often mocks the Americans for a lack of promotion/relegation.

Also, as others have mentioned the clubs which we intend to be competing with have also strengthened so it will be interesting! Either way we should go in to the season feeling positive, we can finally look forward and not backwards and that is huge Rome wasn’t built in a day and our rivals in the league will do anything they can to halt our progress. Incumbents hate being disrupted.

Still plenty of time to go in the window but we really do lack goals I feel. We learnt heavily on set pieces last season and we haven’t improved our goal out put as of yet.
