  1. Nobody in Europe is paying that asking price.
  2. For the record I totally understand the appeal of just leaving it to Eddie, he's our best manager of the modern era, why wouldn't you leave it to him is honestly sound logic.
  3. Cmon guys, chief scout scouted players as you'd expect. He recommended them as is his job.
  4. So, Nickson buys the players Eddie tells him to and a new hire to oversee the other areas of the club?
  5. That's how it appears to be yes, but let's see how it plays out. Maybe I'm totally wrong and he's leaving because Eales is. If so you'd expect a like for like replacement who's heavily involved in transfers.
  6. It's taken us how long to replace eales? Boardroom competency isn't our strong suit.
  7. Nickson is a scout, the job scope of a sporting director is much more all-encompassing. If Eddie wants to choose which players to buy and we are ok with that then promoting a scout above him makes little sense.
  8. That job is way beyond the manager remit. We can't have eddie popping down and making sure the u8 are pressing properly.
  9. To be fair, we've gotten the role wrong to this point so... The job of Mitchell and the like should be to set the entire philosophy of the club, think Ajax think Barca. Yet both Ashworth and Mitchell appear to have been negligent in this area.
  10. This is what I expect has happened too and I feel really conflicted about it. I just hope this doesn't set us back in the short term.
  11. We will be losing Bunce as well I imagine, and he was instrumental this season if reports are to be believed.
  12. Don't agree with this but totally understand the sentiment behind it. His job is to ensure we have continuity and should be responsible for all transfers, if he can't do that job then he's got to go.
  13. You don't remember all of the noise after Ashworth departed about not having the control he was promised?
  14. Can't believe this, two sporting directors in 24 months. Doesn't reflect well on us at all.
  15. Nah, this will definitely be a power struggle. This is a disaster.
  16. Given his reach he probably knows more than most NE journalist's.
  17. How does your first option sound but sell say Gordon and make it 5 top quality players minus a Gordon? I think this is what id do. If I had the option. Mandatory disclaimer: Gordon is very good etc and or course losing him would hurt yada yada.
  18. Absolutely, same issue with Isak right? I'm sure we would listen to offers for him btw but the money we need to do a deal is so much it's not possible. One of the unintended consequences of PSR is basically the funneling of every club to the same profile of player. The big clubs with expensive older players better pray to God the Saudis will take them if not they are stuck. I mean Bruno F is good, but other than the idiots in Munich nobody is paying huge fees for players pushing 30.
  19. The funny thing is, we've been as close to perfect as possible so far. We've literally walked a line which can't be seen. If anything the difficultly with buying purples is the pool of clubs who can buy them from us is absolutely tiny, this is what we found last year with Bruno, nobody could give us a price which makes sense.
  20. Timely reminder for everyone that Manchester reds ownership is as bad as Ashley was.
  21. From a selfish point of view it would be nice but I can't say I'm worried. Eddie has proven himself to be an elite talent developer.
  22. They can afford both him and Cunha?
