Your prediction below is insanely negative tbh.
-
It isnt Yorks man. As I've mentioned your first choice right back simply can't be your back up/first choice left back. Full backs cover so much ground and we need 4 of them ideally with as little ability gao between them. This is compounded by the fact that Hall has been out for ages making him an even bigger risk and Tino inexplicably playing in a u21 tournament. Now granted, we had a lot going on this summer and that can't be ignored but some did point out the need for more cover in the fullback area.
-
Those were just 4 examples chosen due to probability of us not making a profit on them. Other examples exist as you've highlighted. I do hope we have it within us to be ruthless and keep pushing forward.
-
It's a very difficult balancing act without a doubt, it's just an area I think we have to improve on. If we want to achieve our goals we have to be flawless at all levels unfortunately

Good post and as your a money man I'll give you another. We hang on to players for far too long. I estimate we will get zero back on the following players Wilson - cost 20m let go for free. Pope - cost 12m and unlikely to recoup. Burn - cost 13m unlikely to recoup Tripper - cost 13m unlikely to recoup. The issue im attempting to highlight is these players cost money, we aren't getting anything back for them and to replace them will cost money again. When you factor in the average purchase price for players we buy it isn't pretty.

I would ordinarily agree with this but we are defending champions so I think giving it our best shot defending it has been the correct play. That being said, I don't think our poor performances can be explained away by tiredness.
-
Let's see about that first, we don't know what he will do. Lewis Hall has been absent for a long time and slowly getting him back up to speed is the correct play imo.
-
Burn has been a collosus at centre half this season and deserve to start there once Hall is back up and running.
-
I think he means not intensive training so I'm assuming contactless training/training designed not to add load on the players bodies.
-
I'm personally yet to see any sincere serious posters even hint at wanting him sacked like.
-
It should do aye, providing he can keep fit.
-
If our wingers were better we'd actually have the makings of a good positional play team. 3-2 build up. Tino Botman Thiaw Sandro Hall With Bruno pushing into a half space with Ramsay pushing into the left half space. Our wingers not being able to take players on 1 v1 make it a none starter but we could progress the ball and push up high allowing us to press.
-
I think he can be, but a lot of tweaks needed.
-
I don't think it is, you play then both and you can't rotate. Your an injury away from your system imploding.
-
Granted, my wording could be more precise. I do believe the price represents "panic" however your point is valid. I believe we suffer from a bit of hubris honestly, this isn't a knock on us, it's absolutely correct we have lofty ambitions but this whole proven premier league idea we prioritise is flawed given our position. That doesn't mean we shouldn't buy premier league players but we should have clearer goals in our recruitment as our long term planning is off at least from my POV. 1, We shouldn't be signing players over the age of 24 which include fees, PSR is too restrictive for us to buy players who lack resale value imo. 2, we shouldn't sign squad players specifically, we should always be looking to improve our starting 11, this provides us with better competition, players like Bruno and Joelinton look to be cruising tbh.
-
The targetting was poor imo because we spent a lot of time trying to get players we were never going to get over the line. The way last season panned out those cartel clubs were always going to be throwing money around In terms of structural unfairness, you won't find many posters who have written about it more than me tbh but we can't change that and to be frank the club doesn't appear interested in challenging the rules either.
-
Why aren't I playing a straight bat? I've held this position consistently since we were like with him And it's hypotheticals right? We don't know how he would have settled in if he didn't get an injury a lot of posters were saying he guaranteed us 20 goals this season... Big Nick was also a panic buy, a byproduct of poor targetting throughout the window and being generally slow and tardy, nobody misses out on targets like us after all.
-
Eh not really, in highlighting the fact it's often stated players Eddie buys need time to settle in. With that in mind why are we think Wissa hits the ground running? Regarding the fee, I think it's pretty obvious it's a panic buy either that or PSR no longer exists and nobody has told me.
-
Yorkie my friend it doesn't though does it? We knew Wilson wasn't renewing at the start of the window so we needed at least 1 striker ASAP. It took us until the end of the window to achieve such a simple task. We also knew Isak was leaving... We weren't born yesterday we know the Isak deal was agreed in advance of the announcement. I don't think it is any mitigation if our start personally, we can't have it both ways. Either players need time to bed in or they don't. I thought the consensus was players need time to learn our system etc? I'm highlighting this deal as it was the most egregious of the lot for me. Massive fee for a player who wont get better will only drop in value and is off for a month Jolly part way through the season. Don't get me wrong I understand the factors and why we did it. I just disagree with it.

Different horses for different courses I'm afraid Frogman. Your revenue and these rules (which your club loves btw) means any mistake you guys make is hardly punished as your insulated by the restrictions placed upon the likes of us and Villa. Meanwhile we make one mistake and it can set us back 5 years. I haven't seen one poster who's worth talking about on here say Howe out, I see people questioning decisions and critiquing as they should do, this is a football forum after all. We aren't backwards in coming forwards if people want the manager out they will say as is tradition.
-
More referring to the point of us spending 55m on a 29year old whos had just 1 20 goal season in his career. The panic being we left it until the last minute and ended up paying a huge premium.
-
He's a great poster imo.
-
I think this is apart of the worry honestly. We replaced a lower midtable steady player with someone who is top class. We don't have that luxury this tike around, Wissa might help albeit it is an unknown in black and white and Tino will help but none of these guys solve some of the fundamental issues we have. We aren't getting relegated or anything like that but I wouldn't be surprised to see us finish lower midtabke which would be a bit of disaster as we really needed to consolidate European football.
-
We bought a squad to rotate though, we have 200m less excuses when it comes to tiredness this time around.
-
From what Ive seen, very limited sample size without question he doesn't have it in him to press. I was shocked by how slow he looked. Maybe it's the TV doing him dirty I don't know, but wow zero physicality.
