Matip looked good for schalke last weekend. He ran out of defence with ball twice and played defence splitting passes to the striker who scored from both passes. Got to go for him. He's a defender and a creative midfielder in one.

Would like to see him play centre forward once he puts on a couple of stone. Good quick feet got the height and would be hard to knock off the ball.

We can all debate whether or not he is going to really invest in the team until the cows come home, all we can really do is wait and see if he does.

Mclaren is the sensible choice. If we go down we won't get a foreign manager ie tuchel or garde etc but at least mclaren will be given money to rebuild and it will be more than derby will give him so nufc will be the more attractive championship option. If we stay up he will be given mega bucks to take the club forward so we don't have another season like this one. Plus mclaren knows the good players in the championship so that's an advantage when rebuilding if we do go down.

What Carver does not seem to understand is that abuse from the fans is an indication, if one was needed, that the fans do not accept the standard of football that he has produced thus far. In the old days when it became clear the manager had lost the support of the fans, he would do the honourable thing and throw himself on his sword. Nowadays there is no honour in football. The vast sums of money being paid to even mediocre managers, means the likes of Carver, and previously Pardew, will never do the honourable thing. Instead they convince themselves the fans know nothing about managing a football team, based soley on the premise that the majority of fans have never played the game professionally, and completely disregard any and all criticism as being ill judged and misguided, whilst ignoring the fact that even a blind man can see what needs to be done to produce positive results.

The main cause of concern is that if by some unexpected quirk of fate we avoid relegation "carve up" will believe he should get the job full time.

. Agreed. Ashley has most of the revenue stream tied up and he won't let them go cheaply. Although King says he will put his own cash into the club to pay off Ashley when has a self made millionaire ever used his own money. Let's not overlook that Abeid was partnering Colback in midfield when he was playing really well before his injury. It's seems to me that they complimented each other in midfield and allowed Sissoko to break forward.
