I don't get why leaning makes you offside. Attackers go one way, defenders the other. So even in the same spot attackers will look ahead in that position.

It was his first full start and first game at wembley a few days after he made his debut away as a substitute if we want to get overly specific about it.

Looked better in the second half when the game has a bit more room. He wasn't bad in the first half by any means but he didn't look fully on it. Pleased that he grew into it. He's going to face more competition than Hall though.

Obviously Ireland offered little going forward but I thought it was a very accomplished performance from Hall. He didn't look like someone making his debut. Keep playing as he is and that's his position for the next decade.

Hall's been one of our best players. Livramento hasn't looked on it. Nor has Gordon. He offers very little when teams sit back like this. Kane has been predictably terrible.

I think the quality of the league is generally really high that losing a key player makes a huge difference. Palmer is basically carrying Chelsea. It's not to say they're shit without him but take him away and suddenly they're probably mid table. See also Rodri at Man City for a higher up the table example. Overwhelming favourites for the league before they lose him for the season. Makes the job Howe did with most of our first XI out last season all the more impressive imo.

Reason I ask is looking at Spurs there of their 11 games 4 of them are from top half teams, and 7 are from lower half teams. We are the opposite. 7 of our 11 games are against top half teams which makes our position feel much healthier.
