  1. Seemed a bit naughty from Mbeumo to me that. I approve.
  2. Isak forgot how to strike a ball properly?
  3. Why's there loads of adverts for PALACE going around the stadium?

Also in terms of Howe's job I consider him to be one of the very best in the league. He is as close to being Newcastle United as one man can be at this point for me. As long as you're happy you have the right man you stick with him through the good times and the bad.

I think it's fair to say in terms of results we've not had the strongest start to the season and for whatever reason it hasn't quite clicked yet. But for me that's all it is - it hasn't quite clicked yet. It's been a season of fine margins for us. Narrow losses (and very late goals) to Arsenal and Liverpool. Plenty of chances where if we'd have just put them away games would have gone differently, etc. We've played well enough in parts, and looked less impressive in others. This is the same for every team in the league. If we were going out and routinely getting beaten by 2 to 3 goals I'd be worried but that's not happening. I'm sure it'll turn around.
  6. I love the way he tries to suggest that finishing 17th with Spurs is no big deal.
  7. Forest throwing away their second season trophy there.
  8. I enjoyed the complete lack of self awareness of the commentators saying Maresca needs to get the discipline of his players under control whilst looking at a shot of Maresca in the stands.
  9. He couldn't do that again if he tried.
  10. And we thought we had problems with finishing this season.
  11. Just missed another sitter to back this theory up.

Totally agree on the cheating aspect. There need to start dishing out red cards for simulation and I include simulating injuries in that. If a player goes down holding their face and a replay shows there was no contact then get them off the pitch. A ref's job is hard enough without players trying to con them for every single decision. And whilst they're at it they need to clamp down on managers constantly harassing the 4th official. The odd chat is fine but we are subject to pictures of Arteta and Slot constantly frothing at the mouth screaming at them. What sort of message does that send out that this is somehow ok?
  13. Isak is in no way captain material. Says a lot about the rest of the Sweden team more than anything. Oh and they're 0-1 down.
  14. Willock and Targett so good for us they signed twice.

Obviously I'd rather just bin the whole thing but if we are going to keep it i'd rather we let the ref lean into it more. I've seen a few exchanges go like this: Ref: can you look at the penalty incident please VAR: Will do. Confirm on field decision please. Ref: err, I dunno didn't really get a good view, no foul maybe? VAR: Understood. Internal VAR: Well that looks like a foul to me but I can see why the ref didn't think it was so it's not clear and obvious so let's hang him out to dry. VAR: Confirm on field decision of no foul. Whereas what could happen is.... Ref: can you look at the penalty incident please VAR: Will do. Confirm on field decision please. Ref: I don't know. Let me know what you think and advise if I should go to the screen to look or not. Done. If VAR thinks it's obvious either way then say so, otherwise get ref to go have a look and his combination of what he saw in real time plus replay can inform his decision.

VAR is the officials using it. I don't know how many times this needs to be said for people to understand. It's literally in the name. The technology is literally just video replays. We could have been doing this in the 90s or earlier if we wanted to. And I'd like to know how we know it's "actually brilliant if used correctly" as we certainly haven't seen any evidence of that so far.

Wouldn't surprise me. As much as he'd want to be playing for Germany now there's a longer term game here and he seems like he has his head screwed on.
  18. Trippier and Bruno nailed on for top two. We got Trippier at his peak and along with Bruno was instrumental in being part of the team who avoided relegation and then some. Harsh not to include Burn but Isak number 3 for me. One of the best players we've had play for us in recent memory. Other players make an excellent core but Isak (and now looking like Tonali, Livramento, Hall going forwards) was the quality that elevated us to CL level.
