Was more of a winger. But could and occasionally did play as a forward. He was a great buy at the time. -

https://www.newcastle-online.org/forum/index.php?topic=97780.msg5916870#msg5916870 Mate I dont need reminding. I was around. No disrespect but im guessing you were six. My Dad and brother are Liverpool fans. So its something I know and hear a lot about. Back in them days, they had one of the best midfielders in the world who could play the game on his own, Gerrard. Rafa was extremely lucky to have that Liverpool side when Gerrard was around. But to be honest thats no disrespect to what Rafa did while he was there. He signed some howlers but equally he got some really good players through the doors. I was only pointing out, he did sign some poor players. I can eat my thoughts if this lad is good, I have honesty never heard of him. And for me thats quite a thing as I usually have knowledge of quite a few leagues, but this guy and the German link, I really have not a clue. But ??? -

I hope this doesn't end up being one of his N'gog or Riera type gambles. He signed some utter shite at Liverpool. -
I think he is restricted here. The role he carries reflects his goals and assists, not sure why people make the assumption he should be higher on assists and goals in a side that rarely covert their chances and he is played much too deep for him to get forward to get goals.

Nah, you just missed the market changing. The market where, for example, other English players such as Andre Gray (£18.5m), Oxlade Chamberlain (£35m), Danny Drinkwater (£34m), Jordan Pickford (£25m), Michael Keane (£35m), Kyle Walker (£50m), John Stones (£50m) aren't worth what they're bought for either. Shelvey didn't become a £20m player, a £20m player became Shelvey. Either way he's certainly not a £12m player. £12m for even a relatively established English player now gets you someone like Sam Clucas, Will Hughes, or if you're lucky Jack Cork. Clucas and Hughes are better players than Shelvey - Cork I'm not so sure about. This is all irrelevant anyway, if Rafa is happy to get rid of him then we should do so. I doubt he would sanction a transfer if Shelvey was of any use.

Sigurdsson 50m Mangala 46m We had a part to play in the stupid fees. Andy Carroll for 35m was in truth mental at the time.

I wasn't aware of the Joselu scale. Think now I am aware, its obvious how you do the conversion. ?? Thanks
-
I think you need to compare it to what others are being sold for. Theres been some shite sold for a lot more than 12m. Then you have to try and buy something with that pittance to improve your failing relegation threatened side. Not sure how you could justify flogging him for next to nowt.
-
You are absolutely right. If the fee isn't betwwen 18m and 20m theres really no point in pretending we will find a better midfielder. I think he is restricted here. The role he carries reflects his goals and assists, not sure why people make the assumption he should be higher on assists and goals in a side that rarely covert their chances and he is played much too deep for him to get forward to get goals.
-
Shelvey wont be sold. Rafas not that mad. You would be weakening your squad to allow him out at 12m because theres no chance to buy better in a overpriced January ripoff market. If it was more like 20m I could understand a bit.

Wouldn't Schurrle and Ben Arfa be swapped round? Ben Arfa's never been a striker. Was practically a srtriker when he returned to france with Nice. In this day and age, is the modern goal scorer actually labelled a striker? Messi, Ronaldo, Neymar etc. Probably all converted from wide players to inside forwards/attackers.
-
HBA Kennedy Schürrle Something like this for a new front 3 cheers Rafa??
-
Where did you hear that? Another summer rumour back I see. Twitter. But likely lies. He used to play like a 10 for fiorentina. Imagine that and a striker still.
-
Its still not returning you back after a post is made.

Any truth in Jovetic?

Yep this. Or click preview, then go back to the topic. And there it is? ?

Manchester City 3-1 Newcastle United - 20/01/2018 - post match crack p22

https://www.themag.co.uk/2018/01/manchester-city-fans-slaughter-newcastle-supporters-rafa-benitez-tactics-newcastle-united/ Really. We are still deluded idiots apparently. Now they have financed themselves beyond reachable and created a wage structure hardly anyone but 2 or 3 sides can match, there's still enough criticism for a newly promoted side that cant compete and should be berated for going away and trying, and scoring, but even that was a fluke. United got a bad name throughout football for dominance, some of these lot ridiculous and really dont know or get our fanbase. -
They did similar with QFS and I thought he did well with them. Stupid owners.

Would love it if we somehow could convince Mata to join if Mourinho would let him go on loan. Or is that just to ridiculous?
