Considering that England team lacks a leader, it’s insane that we’re going to leave Lascelles at home because Maguire can run forwards with the ball better than him. Silly me, thinking defenders should primarily be good at defending rather than anything else. I can understand playing one defending in the Stones/Maguire mould, but you also need a competent defender next to them to make up for their lack of ability in defending the goal. Playing two of them just so that we can pass the ball sideways for 90 minutes and win the possession trophy is ridiculous and one of the reasons we’ll go out with a whimper.

I don’t even know how Dummett effects Mahrez in any way He’s literally made a tackle, missed both the ball and the man and Mahrez could have stayed on his feet with the ball if he didn't throw himself to the floor. Dummett putting in a slide tackle only affects Mahrez because he throws himself to the floor It was a dive and if anything, the only incorrect decision was that he didn’t get booked. It was actually an excellent decision, as Dave says - in real time it looks like a stonewall penalty.

The fact that it needs so many replays in such slow motion, with people still unsure whether any contact was actually made tells me that even if there was contact, it was so slight that it’s not sufficient to bring anyone down. VAR would clear it all up though, apparently.

Watched it about 4 or 5 times from various angles and in slow motion and I still cant see any contact like. The only potential contact is between knees after Mahrez has already flung himself to the floor.

Assuming he does well at the WC his price would increase even more. The only reason we wouldn't be able to get £30m for him under those circumstances would be the incompetence of our club negotiating with other clubs, which to be fair, is very possible. Carroll was scoring goals in the Premier, and at the time looked unplayable. While I understand player values have rocketed since then, I still think Mitro will need to show some form in the Premier to generate interest at that sort of money. Tom Cairney is rated at £20m+ without a single PL appearance. Strikers are usually more expensive, a striker with a decent PL goal ratio is bound to cost more. Anything less than £25m-£30m would be pathetic. He’s still only 23. Slimani was bought for £30m with nothing but a few goals in a piss poor Portuguese league. £30m should be the absolute minimum we should be negotiating for Mitro like.
