  1. It's been a very dull few years, I'm sure Garde/Jemez are far more likely to be a success here than Vieira (not that that would be guaranteed, plenty of managers with good reputations have struggled in certain jobs) I'd just personally find the start of next season more interesting with Vieira in charge. If it's a disaster results wise so be it. Obviously in an ideal world we'd just give Klopp £5m a year and £100m to spend but for some strange reason I can't see it.
  2. Carrick's only getting older and seems to be injured often these days, would be a good replacement.
  3. He' be realistic under any manager if we were willing to stump up the cash for someone with no resale value for purely football reasons, which is the issue.
  4. Aye it's frustrating though, a 33 year old Cabaye would still walk into our midfield.
  5. Cba to read all of this, but at a glance they look pretty healthy financially. 5th biggest profit in PL last year, without basically any of that coming from player sales. Second lowest wages in the league. £27m cash balance in the bank. Would still imagine they can't start throwing big wages around though. Especially not at the likes of Adebayor. http://swissramble.blogspot.co.uk/2015/05/crystal-palace-ill-fly-for-you.html
  6. Cheer up you moody lot ffs I doubt anyone's excited that we're about to and win the league or something, it's exciting because it's Patrick Vieira! Would make next season at the very least interesting.
  7. would absolutely love this tbh

Not that I agree with the article btw, hence the winky facey.

Which stats would they be then?
  10. Gutted, would have liked another year. And even if they decided to let him go, there must be a more respectful way than a conference call ffs.

http://www.theguardian.com/football/who-scored-blog/2015/mar/31/premier-league-young-team-season-england-harry-kane Don't think he'll ever quite be good enough tbh but as a squad player behind a much better first choice it's not the worst decision, could improve and if he doesn't he won't be a massive headache on big wages to get rid of.

    Ryan Taylor

I know it ended up being a bit of a curse because of the leeway it gave Pardew but he was decent in the 5th season, and as cliché as it is he always gave his all. Shame his all was never really good enough. Good luck to him, seems a great guy.
  13. I'd have no problem in theory taking a Championship manager if they were a young up and comer playing good football. Martinez and Rodgers being recent examples.
  14. Sheperd and Hall era was great for the most part before Souness, the dividends still rile me though. About £35m was it? Imagine if we'd put that into players during Bobby's time where £35m was a proper warchest.
  15. I know you shouldn't put anything past these people but surely, surely even they wouldn't risk Carver next season. The worry for me is I can see them dragging this out to negotiate a lower pay for whoever they get in, not having to pay him a couple of months over the summer as a small bonus and our entire preseason being ruined. Just get someone in asap so we can start sorting ourselves out.
  16. 'We tried our best but unfortunately, we can't compete with the likes of Crystal Palace and my good friend The King, so we had to let Janmaat go'
  17. Lukaku's 2 years older, proven in the PL and is reportedly on about £70,000, so aye that's over the odds for a 20 year old from the Belgian League if true. I don't think I've ever seen him play mind so I can't judge whether he'd be one who's worth paying over the odds for.

    Remy Cabella

Doesn't mean he's a bad player, but his performances have been disappointing this season. He's obviously had extenuating circumstances though. Hopefully whoever our new manager is will get the best out of him, and having a year to adapt will help him. He's got a lot of good qualities, just remains to be seen whether he can shape them into regular good outings, or if the bad performances are mainly down to him or mainly down to mismanagement, time will tell.
  19. And Hughes has done a better job in results. quality of football and even transfer spend. Bizarre.
  20. Don't read if easily annoyed, but both Pardew and Allardyce here in Guardians top 5 managers of the season 'If Mourinho is an obvious choice, so too is Alan Pardew.' http://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2015/may/25/premier-league-2014-15-manager-of-season
  21. Either go and tell her and face the music or don't go at all, this hiding malarkey is daft.

    Steve McClaren

You must not rate Ancelotti much then But yeah individual one off cup wins aren't a great measure of a manager. McClaren would probably do an acceptable enough job, for what Ashley's ambitions are anyway, but as a fan I'd much much rather the excitement of someone I know very little about who'd at least make next season interesting, and if he's a disaster results wise so be it.
  23. The 'be careful what you wish for' brigade would have had a point if we'd ran a 'Sack Pardew, Employ Carver' campaign, but I don't recall that being the message.
  24. Reckon if he'd had just 20 minutes at the end of every game on this run he'd have at least fashioned a couple of goals/assists out of somewhere, which would make a hell of a difference if it had even got us 1 extra point.
