Since there's no news as the club completely disregards their fanbase again, I thought I'd start reading this thread from the beginning. Only up to page 26 so far, but it's fun to see the opinions of folk before he was appointed and who had the measure of him from the start. Rather enjoying it.

I reckon thumbheed will be gone at the end of the season, along with carr. So what if he is stringing this out due to that? He either cant be arsed or its out of maliciousness. He is clearly WAYYYYYY out of his depth but if he googles his name he would likely cry. He could quite conceivably think "f*ck em. They don't like me? Well in which case I'll have mcclaren stay, or have someone inappropriate brought in, or even see if I can get back pardew. That'll teach 'em!"

The last time there was a standout candidate it was effing mcclaren. What is standout to anyone with the slightest understanding of anything is entirely different to this bunch of incompetent yes men. They'll stick with the fool or get someone equally inept. Or prove me entirely wrong and get an exceptional manager in, not some journeyman who will divide the fanbase again.

All about the £££. Managers dont walk away these days when theres a pay off to be had. Does anyone I wouldn't I wouldn't either in fairness, which is why the media should constantly ask managers in this position if they are simply hanging on for the money. Shame the f*ckers.

In this time of uncertainty where my head reckons they will stay with the current buffoon, I'm gonna dream of getting Rafa in. We all know they will disappoint us, so I'm taking this time to enjoy pipe dreams.

Edwards can f*ck right off unless he has definitive proof. He reckoned he'd be sacked today. F*cking fuming that he hasn't been.

when does that tw@ ever print anything encouraging? He positively revels in delivering bad news to NUFC fans. I bet he gets himself off to the chronicle comments section after he's posted news no one wants to hear. It's either that or he's a complete jinx.

This pretty much sums things up for me too.

I'm sure the compensation that he will pick up helps him get over waiting around. You're right and this brings up another point; in what other line of work do you get sacked for being sh*t and get your contract paid up? This is the reason that snivelling wretches in football management don't resign anymore. But if a manager fails at his job, has been given time to improve his performance and hasn't, then surely it's just P45 time? No compensation package, just a reference to say that he has worked there and maybe a "future endeavours" message.

You know what, this is a fair point. Regardless of how terrible he has been, they have to think about their employee here and it's unfair on him to have to go through this wait. It's horrible enough for us, clinging on to the slightest clue as to what's happening but it must be really sh*tty for him. Not a fan of his and I want him gone, but dragging this out is just awful. If it was pardew, then I'd keep him waiting sitting on rusty nails like. BUT, in total fairness mcclaren could (and effing should have) quit of his own volition. So actually sod him. Hope it's twisting his guts.

Thought about that earlier as well. Who would he work with though? Would he accept being demoted to assistant? Could they bring someone in to work alongside him? Stuart Pearce or some such character? He'd move upstairs, surely? Take up his board position? And do what exactly if Carr is still here? Unless it would just be a move to save face? We're so desperate for things to change that we're dreaming up some highly unlikely scenarios. Carr is chief scout. We all know (well, highly suspect) he is in essence a DoF, however maybe they'd just accommodate.

These sort of posts get me so mad, but you said something the other day KI that pretty much changed the way I look at things with regards to comments sections. My blood pressure thanks you.

Could be either thumbhead or carr. He's carr's mate so he won't want to see him go after pushing him to the moon and thumbhead won't want to look even more of a failure by sacking him. Also, he won't have the balls to sack him. Head in the sand time.

The answer is still no on this one, although it's the morality issue being discussed. The FA would be the likely body to hand out punishments (if they chose to) and I'm thinking the charge of bringing the game into disrepute would be the reason why. Still a big "if" though. I do wonder though, I think there will be guidance in the FA rulebook around what punishments can be handed out for certain charges (not specific charges, but scales of "disrepute"), and since I'm not au fait with said rulebook to that level I have no idea whether any punishment can be points based or financial. But still, a big "if".

Some of the comments on there. Imagine writing something like this and thinking "aye, that's good, I should definitely post this." This girl has probably been rogered by plenty of 17 olds behind the skips after nappy night but she decides to grass this one up. More fool him for falling for it though. I saw this, thought it was vile and then wondered "what the f*ck is 'nappy night?'"

This is generally true, although there has been a case where this has happened. The social workers in the Baby P case. I think the ruling was (and I'm paraphrasing here) that you can do it in extreme circumstances, but as far as I'm aware the reasonable time thing still stands as the law generally.

I don't think they have, not in the legal system. When an accusation like this is made then a company can suspend an employee and usually make a decision on whether they can accommodate that person in his current employment or dismiss them if they feel they cannot accommodate them once verdict or admittance occurs. The club might consider dismissal beforehand if they feel it would negatively affect their brand and might use "breakdown of trust" as the reason for doing so, although it's far more likely that they would only make this decision after verdict or admittance of guilt. Innocent until proven guilty is the word of the law here and they would be right to employ him until such a point he is found guilty. If he pleaded innocent until the day of the trial then I would sympathise with the club, but since it is now clear that they knew about the evidence against him since May last year it looks damning on them that he was not kept on suspension. If they knew how he was going to plead then that's even worse from an ethical and less importantly a financial point of view for them. So perhaps a bringing the game into disrepute charge could be levelled at them by the FA, but as for laws broken safc haven't broken any that I am aware of.
  24. Manchester United for me. The attitude they have had has permeated throughout all of their squads throughout the 90s and beyond is just one of arrogance, wankery and self-entitlement. The image I have of man u isn't a one of glory, surrounded by Premier League titles, FA cups and European trophies. No, its a picture of jaap stam and roy keane screaming into a referee's face. In fact, the only one I had any time for in recent memory was giggs and he proved what a role model of morality he is.
