Leicester v Spurs called off.
-
We've conceded 6 penalties so far this season, 1 more than in the entirety of last season.
-
If we persist with 4 at the back I'd go; Dubravka Manquillo Lascelles Schär Lewis Willock Hayden Shelvey Joelinton Wilson Maxi Have Hayden drop into the centre to make a back 5 when we need it which will probably be all game. I cannot bear to watch Longstaff on the ball in our own half under pressure at Anfield, makes me feel nauseous. If by some miracle we're only losing by 1 or drawing bring Miggy on as a ball carrier to relieve pressure.

Fucking whiteyed looking at that team. Fuck me.

It took Benitez 3 games to work out that Steven Taylor was shite, 9 games to work out Sels was shite in the Championship and realised after the summer window in 2017-18 shut that we needed a better keeper than Elliot and Darlow at PL level before loaning and then buying Dubravka. He hasn't failed, he's been in charge for 5 or 6 weeks, 5 games. He's still working out his best side the hard way whilst also having to coach players that haven't been effectively coached for over 2 years.

We sort of need a striker too tbh, especially if Gayle leaves. Would only have Wilson as a recognised CF and he's an injury away from us being screwed. No idea who to go for there. Defenders: Trippier and Botman would be good, no idea how much weight the story on the latter coming here has though. Cook, no. Hopefully its just a lazy link by the press due to Howe's Bournemouth connection. Midfield: We need a holding more defensive minded one. Been waxing lyrical about Kamara but I think he'd be perfect for what we need. Whether we can attract him here with our league position is another thing, but he'd be an outstanding signing. Wingers/AM: Lingard would be a sound coup but should West Ham go in for him he's going there. I think Sunday shows how much we lack in creativity; Joelinton has improved and I love Miggy but ASM is the only real reliable source in terms of making something happen in the final third. Lingard changes that were he to join.

Horrible on the Watford fans that would've travelled up and be in Burnley right now.
-
Felt it in the away end on Sunday. Non stop support for the team all game, very few early leavers at 3 and 4-0. Those at the games are behind Howe and know that for the games he has up to the January window he's trying to make a silk purse from a sow's ear. Need to maintain that level of support home and away for the rest of the season.
-
Happily take all the teams around us losing up to our game at Everton. Just need to be within 6 points from safety at the start of January given our fixtures.
-
Leeds are dreadful at the back. Stones had time for 3 attempts on goal there.
-
Under Guardiola, Man City at SJP have won 2, lost 1, drawn 1. Both of their wins were by 1 goal; 3-4 and 0-1. The 3-4 defeat and only draw were under Bruce. 9 times out of 10 we'll get beat, but at SJP we always give them a tough game. Our defence this time round however, jesus. Managed to bag 3 v them back in May under Bruce though.
-
Aye, just underlines the fucking state the club's been run since promotion in 2017. Villa's first season back in the PL was Bruce's first in charge of us.
-
Unreal goal from Ramsey. 0-1 Villa.
-
So has his mam now after this.
-
Will be surprised but chuffed if he comes here. Kamara and Botman on top of that and that'd be a really good window, anything more on top of that such as Lingard or a striker to backup/challenge Wilson would make it an unreal window.
-
If Trippier is a non starter I'd like to see us go for Maitland-Niles from Arsenal, can play full back and in midfield. Came back into the side at Arsenal after complaining at no game time but has been frozen out again.
-
Brentford v Man Utd called off.
-
In the summer, yeah. According to the French press we made a bid and he turned us down on deadline day but the journalists here poured cold water over that.
-
Yeah. After the links with him out of curiosity I watched a couple of Marseille's Europa League games and he was really good. Solid DM who breaks up play with a lot of energy. Also can fill in at CB. Only 22 as well so will improve. Whether we're able to sell us to him with our league position though remains to be seen but he'd be an unreal signing.
-
Am not subscribed to the Athletic but in here it apparently says since the takeover we've kept in contact with him? People who can read it does it actually say that?
-
I'd hope for something like this after the window, 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3. Dubravka New RB Botman Fernandez/Schar Lewis Kamara Shelvey Maxi Joelinton Lingard Wilson We won't get all the targets we want in January, it's a shit window to do business in. Need a centre forward as well really, we're a Wilson injury away from being fucked. Though if we were able to convince Lingard to come here going off his West Ham form he'd be able to chip in with a few goals. But if West Ham go back in for him he's going there, no matter how much money we offer him. No idea who we could get for a new right back either, Trippier is a non starter imo.
-
Willock needs to play in either a 3 man midfield, with Hayden or he shouldn't play at all. Willock and Shelvey is not an effective midfield partnership at this level. Plus, Willock needs to be further up the pitch so he's got men behind him when he does lose possession which this season has been fairly often. He's not a #10 though, more of an 8.
-
This metric is both a positive and a negative. One one side it's Howe's effect and getting us further up the pitch. The negative(s) is that we're having that many touches in the box and not fashioning anything clear cut and that the opposition only needed 15 touches in the box to score 4 against us.
