Not going to write him off yet, but I’m still not sure what Lewis is supposed to be good at . He's much better going forward. Gets caught too narrow defensively a lot I've noticed.

Absolutely this. I have just said the same thing. This is not a bad set of players. This is the best squad we've had since 2013-14, and we're awful due to the manager. Exact same issue with 2015-16 and McClaren.

Despise this fat cunt.

He's excellent at signing players and bringing youth through to the first team. Signed Coutinho and Suarez at Liverpool and brought along Sterling. Now at Leicester has signed Maddison, Barnes, Tielemans, Praet and now Castagne has also made use of some of their youth well too. Were so far behind them as a club now it's untrue. Dalglish signed Suarez.

Wasn't great but not helped out by ASM at all which cost us 2 goals. Either the squad and staff didn't do their homework or ASM couldn't be arsed. Not that I'm I 'tRaCk BaCk MaN' patriot against players like ASM, HBA etc, but Lewis needed help there. Hope he's okay from that injury, fucking nasty.

Eddie Howe was mentioned, I don’t think he’s the answer but I’d definitely take him. Better option than Bruce but nah, not the answer imo. No idea who is.

Needs binning but who the fuck would take this job atm who's any good? We have a canny squad with a garbage manager.

Probably one for the daft questions thread, but speaking of SJP, why were attendances so low in the first half of 2010-11? We've had much higher gates during worse seasons with worse players and results. Always found it a bit bizarre, like scraping 41,000 v Blackburn and Stoke.

It’s what it’s all about, what he’s all about. It’s why I get no enjoyment out of football now. So many teams just play to “not get beat” which results in negative, boring one sided football matches, where one of the superior teams just try to break down a 10 man defence. Keegan was never scared of the opposition, and only ever concentrated on how his team were going to win. Such an exciting time it was. I think a big part of that can be put down to how much money is in top level football now. Clubs that come up to the Premier League are so far away in terms of quality of player from many established PL clubs, never mind the top 6, that they have to play that way to stand a chance of stopping up and collecting that TV money. We've been doing it for the past 3 years (bar two spells under Benitez in the latter parts of his two PL seasons here), 2 of which because we've had to. In the 90s that wasn't so much the case I don't think. Correct me if I'm wrong as I didn't live through that era, but during the 90s there was nowhere near as much of a gulf or as much money so teams had more incentive to attack teams and play attacking football. Well, apart from Wimbledon.

Would've been aye. From .com Sums up SJP at 52k really, that. That season was also the season during which I was born. First Newcastle game of my existence was a 2-0 defeat at Derby. Heady days then.

I met him when I was a bairn, in the Aston Martin garage up at Beamish. Was looking at some Rolls Royce. An amazing manager and human being who's very sorely missed.
-
Either Cisse due to the guy's whole demeanour and for that special first 4 months or Rondon due to how much of a well oiled machine we looked post Almiron last season with him spearheading the attack.

Got to the anyone but Ashley stage now. Something that just isn't the same boring, monotonous bilge. Also the idea of Shearer coming in as manager is a non starter for me. Arteta and Lampard have had some experience either at a Championship club or working under one of the most successful managers in the world. Only way I think it would be worth a shot is if he's brought in as a number 2 or a coach under a successful manager. Whether he'd take that I don't know.

Think the yellow one would look better with McEwan's Lager than the blue star. 92-93 throwback but sans the green.

I can't remember this very well, but I imagine it was a poor attempt at joke? What was the context? I can't actually remember why you asked it, I just went up to the bar with you and you just asked the barman about drugs. Fuck knows what I was going about, I didn't even try weed until I was 33 Anyway, I'm glad I gave a good impression Was hilarious man. Great afternoon that.

Becoming increasingly likely that the 'withdrawal' is a tactic, designed to invoke pressure and scrutiny on the PL, hopefully to pressurise them into a decision. Meanwhile Rocker's latest ITK suggests Staveley and PL are as talkative right now as they ever have been. Cheers. Thought the idea of the withdrawal being a tactic was thrown out fairly soon after the statement that they were withdrawing was made? Chuffed if otherwise.
