Back to being a fucking AIDS defeat again.
-
What an absolute fucking shambles. Not the first time they've leaked stories to the press which have ended up not happening. They need shooting with shit, this saga could well end up sending us down.
-
It reads like 'I think Emery will reject Newcastle because it seems like it's not got structure in place and the leak/uncertainty may have him getting cold feet.' Need to just see what tomorrow brings. Do agree about the leak and uncertainty though, if it's come from the club. You don't leak that when he's still managing another club and has a relatively important game on the same day. Really poor imo.
-
So Craig Hope and Martin Hardy are both saying this'll be finalised in the coming days yet Balague is saying he'll fuck us off due to the uncertainty? Bizarre. Do have to say if the leak about Emery being #1 has come from the club that's quite poor imo, given he's still the manager of Villarreal and has had to take a CL game on the same night. Pay the compensation, get him agreeing to come then by all means. Need to just see what tomorrow brings. Hopefully Balague is talking shite, no idea if he's one to tend to.

McManaman "Maguire knew he was offside there"

McTominay, Maguire, Jose Luis Palomino 45/1

Heart is saying yes personally. Head says we have to be on ~15 points by January. We have 4 now, where are the 11 coming from? The next 5? Brighton, Brentford, Norwich, Burnley, Leicester? Shouldn't panic I suppose, Emery is a top appointment and should steer us clear.
-
So, Emery comes in. We staying up?
-
"Don't see the fuss about him. Did shit at PSG and sacked at Arsenal. Fluked the Europa League on penalties last season. If someone gave me the choice between him and big (well, little) Lee I'd take Lee every day of the week." Is probably what the craic is on RTG.
-
Aye. Need someone like a Torreira or Kamara in January. Hayden and Willock should be our midfield 2 in a 4-2-3-1, with Willock being more advanced so when we attack its more akin to a 4-1-4-1 that Leicester use. Almiron in the 10, ASM and either Fraser or Murphy out wide. Lewis at LB.
-
Not unpopular at all given the flags display v Spurs. Big River, Local Hero, potentially Down To The Waterline, Home Newcastle all should considered anthems of the city.
-
With Emery potentially coming in and being in charge for this we could well get that cliché that is the new manager bounce. Draw or narrow win.
-
Emery is a good appointment if we can pull it off. Howe would've been a good one too.
-
Aye. Used to do it away at Everton and home to Leicester. Now it's this.
-
Full day of drinking for the football and the Canelo fight will numb the pain. Siuuuu
-
Aye. They knew his importance so they just let him do what he wanted probably; jet off to France whenever he felt like it, not turn up or not try 100% in training or whatever. No wonder he liked Bruce so much imo. That's not me having a go at ASM btw, still absolutely adore the bloke, but going by most of his performances thus far this season and with a new manager coming in soon he needs a rocket up his backside.
-
Aye but he needs to start from a wide position so he creates space in the middle. When ASM is the one in the middle, who's he creating space for? Wilson? Ritchie and Manquillo? He's not going to hold the ball up as that's not his game.
-
Said in another post, playing him up front or through the middle is like playing with 10 men. He needs to be out wide where he'll drag 2 or 3 defenders out to him creating space for Wilson or a late runner in Willock. Palace was his worst performance since he's been at the club imo and he was nullfied on Saturday by having him through the middle. Someone needs to tell Jones that ASM is a winger and a very fucking good one at that.
-
Also bearing in mind that the 6pts came from an Everton side who couldn't stop losing to shit teams at Goodison and a Southampton side who in the game prior lost 9-0. Has it? Benitez managed when players were out, albeit very rarely were players out injured under him. Aye it is. When we went back to a back 5 at home to Spurs last season, we'd won 2 in 25 games playing 5 at the back. That was supplemented by Willock's ridiculous goalscoring run. Admittedly performances did improve although we did keep just the 1 clean sheet playing 5 defenders which was against bottom club Sheffield United. And yep.
-
I think the players just a need a boost of confidence. Both the fans and players have been used to the garbage that Bruce/Jones puts on in training, his comments in press conferences and putting the club and team down regularly. Bit of confidence and the nous to set the team up both in the right positions and correctly tactically might be all that's required. Fonseca would likely bring that. Also a big plus that he'd have 2 weeks in the break to get his ideas across and fitness levels up.

I'm trying to say that the split striker thing was shite. 6pts from 9 v Everton, Palace and Southampton is hardly cause for calling it to work more than it didn't given the 3pts from 18 after it. One player shouldn't be the reason of a success or downfall of a gameplan. Jones is seemingly part of the problem here given the persistence of what Bruce was doing before; 8 games where we won twice with his at-times-striker-less formation last season isn't cause for me to think otherwise.
