    On this day...

I was there for that. Awesome. Also, 15 years ago today, my first game. https://www.nufc.com/html/2005-06html/2006-01-07mansfield-h.html
  2. Was he not just called Heneage on here? Seen old posts under that name.
  3. Carver the worst, 100%. Then its a toss-up between Bruce and McClaren for me. Bruce because of what he inherited and our continual regression while being patronising and an all round cunt to the fans as well as the media sucking his cock and telling us to be grateful. The football is shite while this squad is arguably the best we've had since 2013/14. We're much worse than under Benitez when we had a squad with next to no investment for 1 and a half seasons until Almirón arrived. McClaren for being so shit and getting that 2015/16 squad relegated. IMO it was possible to see that he tried to get us playing okay stuff and we did in patches in certain games but on the whole the team reflected McClaren as a person, just a weak, wet flannel. But he was just generally shit, our unbeaten run towards the the end of the season under Benitez showed what that team was capable of and also imo 2015/16 is a big reason for the politics between Rafa and Ashley in the following seasons, it set us back years.
  4. Would take. Wonder what the odds are of them scoring 3 OGs.
  5. Standard Arsenal away defeat. They're starting to play well n'all.
  6. If I enjoyed watching us play and we had a likeable manager who actually looked like he knew wtf he was doing, I honestly wouldn't care if we finished in the bottom half season after season. Although you'd imagine we'd be doing a 6-10 every season with that kind of management. Yeah. This club is so easy to get right, we've had glimpses even under Ashley but he continues to wilfully fuck it up.
  7. Played 90 minutes of football in total v these last season with 10 men and with no ASM. By god I hope its watchable, been some absolute shockers from us in this fixture last few years. On the flip side, those two Rafa specials at their place were tremendous. Tactical masterclass. Then we went there last season... Oh aye, away from home v these there's been good moments. At SJP though it's been utterly fucking miserable.
  8. Highly rated by every manager since he's been at the club.
  9. He's still an arsehole and still absolutely shit, but I'll give him his dues for last night in spite of the luck we rode. You need luck to get results v the likes of Liverpool but I felt that we earned it, for the first time in a while we looked like we had a clear plan and the players executed it. But he needs plans and execution when we play Fulham, Sheff Utd, Brighton, West Brom et cetera. As we're yet to see it against sides like that. And it's why he's a 1 in 4 manager and not good enough.
  10. Played 90 minutes of football in total v these last season with 10 men and with no ASM. By god I hope its watchable, been some absolute shockers from us in this fixture last few years.
  11. The fixture which for the last 5 or 6 years we've served up our worst performance of the season in. Opening a new year with it again, if its as bad as last time I'm going to commit seppuku. (Mainly because I know a couple Leicester fans and they're both a pair of cunts)
  12. Great result, decent performance with huge slices of luck. I'm okay playing like this against the likes of Liverpool and the like but this is where Bruce can get to fuck during his tenure: we play like today against everyone, even those who are shit and make them look like world beaters.
  13. I remember when Bobby used to come on after a game and the whole pub would go silent and just listen to him. 'How, shush, man, Bobby's on' Yeah I remember that Happened a couple of times in the Bodega in our first season back in the PL under Rafa, remember after the 1-1 draw with Liverpool and win v Man Utd he appeared on screen and there was constant shushes before complete silence, listening to what he was saying. Miss him so much. Oh, also will bet on Bruce treating tonight like we're playing 2009 Barça at the Nou Camp despite Liverpool having no fit centre halves.
  14. Same. Used to hang off of Rafa's every word, read every article, watch every press conference and pre match and post match interviews. Just switch this rancid cunt off, only time I ever hear him speak is before games when they just happen to interview him but even then I don't listen. He's a pathetic excuse of a manager in 2020, I know sacking him may not make a difference but I can't bear to see his name and face before and after games. Just fuck off.

    Merry Christmas

    Merry Christmas lads and Jill[/member]
  16. The End Of The F***ing Club TV series but still works.
  17. Posted mine last night when I couldn't get any sleep in the Bruce thread. Football clubs are meant to provide 90 minutes of escapism, solitude or whatever for fans in these times. I had it in the Championship season under Benitez, going to games, watching us or whatever. Those 90 minutes probably were one of the few things that kept me going back then when I was really struggling, fuck knows what people have now. Probably a bit deep but y'kna. Anyway here's what I posted last night:
  18. It's vehemently frustrating, like. We've been utter shit for a season and a half under him with a handful of minor exceptions. Pundits and the media barely watch us, Sir Les albeit we love him, showed us this pre Leeds. They just look at the league table, look at results at FT and think he's doing a 'good job' as a result*. This is then contradicted by the opinions at HT and FT of utter shitshows we serve up where the team and individuals are blamed but Bruce isn't. It's Almiron being inconsistent and not scoring for ages, it's Joelinton not being good enough, it's Maxi being erratic and it's our back 4 being unorganised. Bruce is somehow absolved of this despite picking underperfomers week in week out, our good defensive organisation that was seen under Benitez and at some times last season has evaporated, the central midfielders coming deep for the ball and therefore having no options ahead of them which leads to a quick turnover of possession. Bruce just can do no wrong in their eyes because he's their mate, he's one of the lads, he's good craic and he's English which plays into the jingoistic bollocks of a lot of ex players. *I want to build on this point. What is a 'good job'? Midtable again, in spite of not even progression being shown, only regression? This just fuels the fire of my hatred for the elitism in English football, the top 6 status quo. A good job for Newcastle is midtable, yeah their fans want to see more? Pfft, you can't touch the Man Utds, Man Citys, Chelseas of this world, be happy because you're where you belong. Just fucking fuck off you cunts. I digress, anyway: Benitez was the antithesis of Bruce. He was a foreign manager, had a lot of success both in this country and abroad, has had the love of 4 huge different fanbases. Yet the football had the reputation of being dour, defensive stuff which a fair few morons in our fanbase bought into. The Man City home game almost 3 years ago to the day when we were a newly promoted side brought this nonsensical reputation to Rafa's Newcastle; a team that's happy to have <30% possession so long as we could keep the score down. Think back to the media reaction that night, Neville's commentary, interviewers' questions. We almost snuck a result and would've ended a Man City's side's 17 game winning run, a side that would go on to get 100 points. We lost 0-1 yet were a newly promoted team with next to no investment in the playing staff but that label stuck. I guarantee that Bruce would've gotten credit that night if we was in charge of us, or of Sheff Wed or Hull. Thing is, he probably wouldn't have had the know how to. And it seems that we're stuck with him. We can't voice how much we fucking despise him, we don't even know if getting rid would even be the right thing to do due to choices out there and this takeover stuff. Bearing in mind, I don't believe it for a second. Either way its a rancid fucking cycle and I'm sick of it.
  19. Longstaff started 8 league games in 18/19. He made 9 appearances. Hardly the last half. Since he came back from injury for the first game of last season he's been, on the whole, shit. Those 8 games, while under Rafa, are starting to look like a purple patch ever more.
  20. Fully agree. It's why whilst I want Bruce to fucking drop dead and be replaced by literally anyone at this stage I don't think the likes of Howe are the answer. The takeover happens, we'll want the manager changed. Again.
  21. He literally loaned out one of our better CBs at the start of the season for no fucking reason.
