  1. Pretty sure when the promotion play-offs were first introduced they were 3 from Div 1 and one from PL. Have to remember the reason was to reduce numbers in the PL, and I think it was bottom 3 got relegated, 19th/18th played the playoffs with 3rd, 4th and 5th in 1st div. I think that's right.
  2. The format isn't broken though. It's not really a position to be taken, it's just important to bear that in mind when we discuss unnecessary changes.
  3. Do you think we'd get the VAR decisions in the playoff?
  4. I was actually praising the idea. Clubs get two chances to save their PL status, is another way of looking at it. If it involved lubs from the championship it would be wholly unfair, of course.
  5. I think deciding which club goes into the world's most lucrative competition, based upon one game which could easily be decided by a bad VAR deision, would further entrench their positions.
  6. So the losers of the semis would play in the final, and the losers of the final get relegated? It would make each game like a final.
  7. He gets forward naturally, asking him to play that position doesn't need to restrict that. Is that better?
  8. Maxi Isak Fraser Joelinton Miggy Bruno Targett Botman Schar Trippier Pope
  9. Sing Looooris Sweet Karius
  10. Good luck to the lad. Welcome to the toon.
  11. Oh aye. I'm not diissing the fans, they often have no attachment to the club, beyond their initial choice. And they're at liberty to recognise they made a mistake by picking Chelsea. It's an emerging market.
  12. Nowt wrang with a bit of positivity. Hope that translates onto the pitch, because we'll struggle to break them down, like Forest, if they put men behind the ball.
  13. Aye. The entire concept of the ESL was to exploit the global market. Liverpool playing half their matches in another country doesn't benefit their home fanbase in any way. In fact, if we ever get a ESL I doubt you'll see many scousers ever asked their opinion again. TV will focus on the g;obal fan who have read all they need to know about the club, in the ESL promotional literature.
  14. I'd have thought the entire nation would be booing god for faiiling in the one task we asked of him.
  15. I was on the subs list for tickets to one of his gigs at the Hen and Chicken, no joy so we ended up seeing a comedy troupe including a young Katy Brand.
  16. Not sure who it was [I'm think Mark Thomas or Rhod Gilbert] that said "I'll fight for my countr... My cit... My tow... My esta... My flat. I'll fight for my flat", but they were spot on.
  17. Yep Germans are as proud as punch to dress up in lederhosen and slap each other silly, because people come from all over the world to join in, with beeer. But you ever see a brit extolling the virtues of the morris dancer?
  18. Don't you think that's kind of natural, though? At least inevitable. Is it a permanent change that we need to address? I don't know.
  19. Good post. I just don't like this idea that she has served her country. By definition the country has served her all her life.
  20. I agree. But I also see that whatever we do is going to be used in a divisive way. The cup presentation gives us the opportunity to plead ignorance. "The Queen? Oh aye so it is. It's been such a long time, christ has the queen been going THAT long?"
  21. I'd be delighted with it. As soon as @Optimistic Nut posted it, I thought it was perfect. It's a toon flag, which resonates with the moment, and that's what they've always succeeded in doing. Anybody who saw that on match day, and got wound up by it, would defy polite definition. Let's be honest, it should already have been a flag.
