  1. Because they can’t buy their own seats initially as only the lower bowl is on sale.

    Fixtures (2022/23)

100%. Won’t be as many on general as there was with Palace, but still be plenty

Ah right, so it’s only a requirement if you want a full squad.

Think the 4 academy players thing is a requirement like. There’s also a requirement to have 8 “English” players, although that one obviously wouldn’t be an issue for us.

I think the £50m+ it would cost to bring him back would probably be a bit steep just to fulfil some criteria

Looking at his wiki, it seems he left our youth setup when he was 16, so presumably not.

Yeah, need 4 players that were at the club for at least 3 years between 15-21. So at the minute you’d only have Dummett, Longstaff and Anderson qualifying. You’d have to include one of the likes of Watts, De Bolle, M Longstaff etc. And there’s not really an easy fix for next season as bringing in youngsters from elsewhere doesn’t help you in the short term.
  8. The Remembrance Day game always presents a bit of challenge in terms of atmosphere. Trying to immediately switch from sombre to raucous. Sure @Heronand the Wor Flags guys will be on it tho.
  9. Be astonished if they brought more than 200 tbh. Ludicrous journey, midweek, week before Xmas, to a ground they were at a couple of months ago. All on top of having a small fan base anyway. Fair fucks to any of them that turn out.
  10. I can’t remember that at all tbh! Although I did say in an earlier post I wouldn’t blame anyone that’s completely stricken that game from memory
  11. Joelinton’s took two pens for us and they’ve both been unstoppable.
  12. Last 8 games against them at SJP there’s been 8 goals in total.
  13. We beat Newport on pens under Bruce live on Sky. Don’t blame anyone for banishing that game from their memories mind…
  14. Yeah, unfortunately cup games do seem to attract a larger amount of these type of clowns. I seem to remember our Thursday night Europa games being particularly bad for it *compared to your average league game. Not implying all cup games are frequently by loads and loads of idiots off their nut on whatever. Just seem to be enough to make them more noticeable.
  15. Sounds ridiculous, but getting Man City at home in the next round maybe wouldn’t be the worst thing. Chances are you’re going to have to beat them at some point if you want to win it, so you’ve got a much better chance of doing that at home, than at Wembley. Also the fact that the vast majority of their squad will have been at the WC and some only back shortly before the game, would be another advantage.
  16. Looking at Palace’s team from the previous round and it was relatively strong, so doubt they’ll end up being particularly weak. Can’t see Zaha playing like.
  17. Aye, Waugh saying on the Athletic podcast that the Palace reporter for the Athletic reckons they’ll play a load of youngsters.

I think it’s 75% of international matches over the last year (not sure whether that’s appearances, minutes or whatever).
  19. His communication skills are absolutely first class. I’ve noticed in his pressers as well that sometimes he says something, pauses for a second to process how it’s come out, then he might rephrase it in a different way to add clarity.

Almost like our recruitment is actually targeting players that would fit the way we want to play, rather than the scattergun, ‘he looks decent’ approach of the past.

Probably correct. And therefore increases the likelihood of the ‘biggest club in the world’ winning zero trophies again.

Interesting little thread that shows the fixture congestion some of the other teams (particularly Man Utd) could face. This is definitely a season for us to take advantage of circumstances… https://twitter.com/dalejohnsonespn/status/1588288713330597888?s=46&t=x87HJ_FX87T2HPr0V_Ydgw

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-11374301/Sunderland-ban-away-supporters-bringing-VAPES-COINS-Stadium-Light.html Whilst there’s clearly been some incidents, it seems bizarre that they’ve had to resort to such draconian measures. Do we have the same issues, given away fans are similarly located? I actually sit underneath the away fans, albeit quite far towards the front, so would have to be a fair chuck to reach me, and the only time I can recall an issue was, ironically, the derby game where the flare hit the disabled lad.
