I don’t think his age should be underplayed here. Can’t think of many strikers aged U21 who’ve made a significant contribution to a PL team. Generally seems to take until 22/23 until the stats start improving unless you have a freak like Rooney or Owen.

Tbf, given what he produced last season, Solanke doesn’t look that bad of a signing now.
-
Had two in the game before that though if we’re being selective…
-
Tell me you don’t understand football without saying you don’t understand football… Out of interest, had we not signed him, who would you have played up front instead?
-
Just getting ‘any cunt for less than £25m’ lands you with Emmanuel Riviere.
-
If we hadn’t of signed Chris Wood, we would have been relegated. But, aye, “waste of money”.
-
No, questionable whether that even improves us. Can see the argument that Pulisic could be a better fit (albeit on the opposite side) but not sure he’s actually a better player.
-
FWIW, we haven’t conceded more than once at home since we played them in December.

I appreciate people want what they’ve paid for, but honestly, they’ll be shite. Barely worth having unless you want to pass on to a child as a gift.
-
Possibility definitely. They might fancy Fleetwood v Everton as more of an upset chance though? Anyone know how many TV games there are?

No issues with getting through the tunnel?

Anyone driven to Tranmere before? Is it as much of a fuck on as a limited Google map suggests?
-
The fact we’re still in the PL makes the £25m on Wood pretty good tbh

6 in a row isn’t an ongoing thing anymore. The ‘streak’ has been broken. So it’s now a historical sequence of results. Doesn’t matter if they beat us, it doesn’t become 7 in a row. Equally, it doesn’t matter if we beat them 8-0, 6 in a row still happened. The only thing that could nullify it somewhat is if we were to go on our own streak to match/better it. They’ll do well to earn the right to play us that many times the way things are at present though.

It’s already been put to bed. If they suggest otherwise, you can’t argue with stupid.

Then you’re an absolute lunatic

Local Man City journos rubbishing the Bernardo fee story.

Longstaff played virtually every game for Mansfield after he joined…

Carlisle away at Shrewsbury tomorrow. Couldn’t have been much worse for them.
-
Actually I guess they have to reclassify North/South after the first round? So you could be South in round 1 and North in round 2 or vice versa
-
Given they’ve got Sutton in the first round, I think you’re probably out of luck…

Harrogate away and the ticket office finally imploding

As pointed out by @jack j in another thread, Sky offering 9/4 for Paqueta to still be at Lyon at the end of this window. Ridiculously we’re 11/10 to sign him. I know Arsenal (6/1) have been tenuously linked but the only real threat I can see to that 9/4 is Man City (7/1), but that will require De Jong to leave Barca, then Bernardo Silva to go to Barca, and then City to actually want him.

Bizarre given how innocuous it seemed at the time

Wood was an overpriced, emergency signing, borne out of the fairly desperate predicament we found ourselves. Having watched the Cambridge game, I don’t think it’s too outlandish to say his presence transformed our performance levels, simply through his physicality and tactical understanding (yes, obviously initially Trippier and later Bruno also had massive impacts) He might not really be suitable for what is required now, but if £25m was the price of staying in the PL, he was absolutely not a “bad, bad signing”.
