Depends how you want to spin it. We’re playing (very) inconsistently, even within matches. Granted, probably veering more towards bad than good considering the season as a whole. But Forest are fifth, who we’re five points behind, and I remain very confident of finishing above them. I’ll accept I’m nearly always glass half-full, whereas others may be glass half-empty, but it really feels difficult to be fully confident either way on which direction the season goes from here.

All very well giving it the big un like that until none of these ‘Champion’ teams come in for you, and you realise that one of the ‘middle’ teams will double or treble your wages…

I think it transpired that the medical team were advising that he get the surgery done, but Botman himself was adamant that he felt OK and he could play through it, with the ‘expert’ opinions that were sought being split on whether doing so would result in it going completely. In hindsight it was obviously a massive error to let Botman get his own way, but having said that, effectively forcing a player to have surgery when they feel they don’t need it is probably easier said than done.
