There is absolutely no way Romano has just plucked specific figures for a bid like that without having been told by someone that has some level of ITK. Again, that doesn’t make it true, as we don’t know the source, and what they might gain by getting Romano to put it out there. Just laughable to think he ‘made it up’ though.

Do people actually believe that journalists (proper ones, like Romano) just ‘make stuff up’? Obviously, I’m not saying they’ll always be right, as the source of their info could potentially be ‘making up’ what they tell them to suit a particular agenda (especially if it’s an agent). But if you think Romano’s just made up that we’ve put in a third bid and guessed at some numbers for no real reason other than a bit of clout, you’re crazy.

It’s not quite that - he wouldn’t take up a squad place this season based on age (would next season I think). The home-grown thing is only relevant in that you have to have a certain number (17?) in your squad.

Where do you think the likes of Santa Clara, Vizela and Pacos de Ferreira would finish in the Championship? Bit of a stupid question I know because football is played differently in different leagues, but you see the point I’m making.

He’s scored a hat-trick against Midtylland and one against Kiev… Anyway, I’m not intending on being particularly negative towards him because he does look very good (based off very little I have seen), just pointing out goals in the Championship are probably worth just as much as goals in Portugal.

Probably harder to score in the Championship than it is in the Portuguese league (especially if you play for Benfica)

I don’t think his age should be underplayed here. Can’t think of many strikers aged U21 who’ve made a significant contribution to a PL team. Generally seems to take until 22/23 until the stats start improving unless you have a freak like Rooney or Owen.
