As it stands if England gets the extra CL spot then 6th and 7th will get EL and 8th ECL. If we don't then 5th and 6th get EL and 7th ECL. I don't think however the current top four do in europe will effect this, and Brighton or West Ham winning the EL is highly unlikely.

I was looking at the league tables/results of us from years ago and had to bump this thread. Back in the 80/81 season in the old division 2 we scored a grand total of 8 goals away from home in 21 matches, and 3 of them were in one game. We failed to score in 16 of the 21 games. I think to get 7th we are looking at needing 7 wins and a couple of draws from the last 12 games. All the home games are winable on paper, and the fact we have 3 of the 4 teams fighting it out for 7th to play at home is a positive.

This, easily. We should have been at least 2 up at H/T but it just wasn't meant to be. If we had won that game we undoubtedly would have went on to win the title and probably several more due to the momentum/prestige factor attracting the best players that summer (other than Shearer of course).

Yes like I said I think he'd be useful coming off the bench next season. However another downside for him is he has just turned 30, and age is less kind to wingers than any other position on the pitch.

I think it is. His half season purple patch last year raised his stock somewhat but he's reverted to type now.
