Wolves still have to play the current top four and West Ham. West Ham still have to play us, City, Liverpool, Spurs, Wolves and are still in Europe. Chelsea still have Arsenal, Man U, Brighton, Villa and West Ham. 7th is there for the taking, Brighton, WHU and Wolves all have horrific run ins and Chelsea's isn't much better. Five wins and a draw or two may actually be enough.....

He's off, and I think that's a good thing for both him and us unfortunately. He wants to play in the CL and win things, that's not happening with us in the next 2-3 seasons if we have to rely on the meagre money recouped from the likes of Longstaff and Almiron to fund new signings in the FFP era. No, we only need a RW, ST and CB. Howe does not play with a dedicated DM, and if he decided to I'd imagine Tonali would be a suitable choice. Likewise his system does not have a no 10 role either. As for LB, we are stowed off with them, they just all happen to be mediocre or injured. Tino is more than capable of filling in there whilst we vainly hope Targett or Hall will come good.

It's a third tier tournament, just like the domestic Full Members cup back in the day. Someone said it was on par with the old Cup Winners Cup, which is bollocks as you actually had to win something in the first place to get into it. I wouldn't mind being in it but I'd use it as a platform to play the fringe players only. If we won I'd put in on par with our Texaco and Anglo Italian cup wins in the early 70s.
