Such a confusing, inconsistent string of moves. Was he actually good at one point and has faded or was he always operating at a level above his capabilities at the likes of Spurs, Soton & Liverpool? Just realised he has 1 England cap too and actually scored on it too https://www.theguardian.com/football/2017/jun/29/steven-caulker-mental-illness-addictions-gambling-drinking-qpr I didn't know that. I can empathise with him on some of the issues there. The Dundee move actually becomes admirable in this light.

Great player. Hope he starts v Man U.

Still just 27 mind, he is absolutely fucking class when fit. Hope he has better luck at Guingamp would love to see him playing again.
-
Used to drive me mad that He could be 45 yards from goal yet there was always someone around me in the Gallowgate who just couldn't help themselves

Aye, Mitrovic is obviously more talented than Shola ever was, as much as I love the guy.

95% sure Murphy will be playing on the right having seen a few things from training. May be reading into it a bit much at the same time however. -
Disagree, I think Atsu has got better here. He's a more capable and well-rounded player this season for us than he was last season. I think you may be basing much of your opinion on his current form - which is unfair.

Again I'd go with Darlow, he's done little to warrant dropping him recently. I think he's also important to our back line with him and Jamaal being so close off the pitch, they probably put each other at ease a bit on the pitch and in a game of fine margins it might be the difference. Darlow has also been great at coming off his line to collect crosses recently of which there'll be plenty. -

I can see why Shelvey would be dropped for this one given we're not likely to see much of the ball (on paper at least). However, if Man Utd were to sit off and play on the counter, he would be vital to us getting something out of the game imo. A genuine tactical duel between the managers, this one I reckon. Can see a score draw, crowd should be up for it and less vocal in their frustration too. -
My favourite thing about him. He's not phased at all by operating in tight spaces either, such a calming influence to have in the side.

Sane? Mane surely?

What I really liked about him today is that he never seemed rushed into a pass, he always seemed to wait until the best pass became available. There was times where the long diagonal tempted him, but he paused, assessed play and usually played the short ball to one of the full backs. A really mature display from him.

He was our best player today I thought. I mean I know he wasn't very involved in the second half, but in that first he dictated the game tbh. I love to see that sort of display from him, consistency is getting there but he still needs to up the effort on that front just a touch. All in all really pleased though.

Yep, never felt a goal was imminent tbh. They came at us but we always had the bodies back to defend. Never really stretched to much. You can't be serious here, like. We had 2 or 3 goal saving blocks, tackles, and saves from in and around the 6 yard box. Thought they were pretty toothless upfront personally, they had the beating of us in the wide areas but I never felt that concerned they were nailed on to score - they didn't know when to pull the trigger a lot of time. Sat watching in relative ease tbh. PM me your dealer please. Highly inappropriate that KI. In all seriousness though, I feel I have a point in what I say. I call them toothless as they would have put that game to bed not long after the pen if they had the quality up top. Zaha was fashioning chances for them well but it became clear to me 20 minutes or so before the end that they didn't have the man to finish them off. Benteke, Cabaye & McArthur all missing very good chances. The result was me being fairly at ease that we were good for a point.

To be fair Zaha basically had everyone on toast, he was by far their best outlet. Can't tackle him or read which way he's going to go, all our players get back to cover. He changes the game on his own, superb player. Yes and despite his dominance and that he had Yedlin beaten every single time, they didn't worry us that much really. They were pretty toothless upfront when chances fell their way. Clark cleared two off the line in the space of 10 seconds, Id call that stretched really. Zaha could've done better with a couple chances himself. I think we actually defended decently in numbers beyond that though yeah. Aye well you need your defenders to help you out on the line occasionally and they did the job. Even in those instances they were just snapshots iirc and nothing that clear cut. We done well to weather the storm and I'm quite pleased with the outcome. Lots of positives to take from that game.

Unbelievable reaction from some saying we were terrible etc. Were we fuck man. An even and balanced game where we had the better of the first half and they really came at us in the second after a soft penalty decision. Regardless we held on quite comfortably in the end and remain unbeaten in 8 excluding the City games. We had some very positive performances today from Shelvey in particular, who silenced a lot of his nonsensical critics by showing himself as comfortably one of the best players on the pitch. Kenedy was excellent again and should have stayed on, as with Diame - but I trust there's reasoning behind Rafa hauling them off so won't read to much into that and be disappointed by a sub. Defence were as solid as always and Darlow had some very good moments - enough to keep his place again I reckon. Only real downside to me was Gayle, who honestly seemed to be hiding most of the game. You could also say lack of service in that second half, but he just goes missing imo and doesn't offer himself as an option when the going gets tough. Need better but I'n fully confident Slimani will step up. We move on.
