Definitely better off paying that sort of money for Jorgensen imo. Least he looks like a football player not a wrestler.

Newcastle United transfer rumours in the press

Not so sure, a new striker could still come in yet - which would be pretty significant. -
How's Lucas Digne doing in Spain you Barca/La Liga lot? Was class for Lille as a youth.

We should have started buying ex-Sunderland full back loanees when Marcus Alonso was on the scene. Brendan Galloway next. -

Diame has been good lately I agree, which is why I think we should, and will, start with Diame & Shelvey in midfield on Wednesday. -

But if Merino is unfit, which is he is - then Shelvey is clearly the best option we have. I'd argue that fact even if Merino was fit. I've said it a million times and am sick of the sound of my own voice, but he's one of few with genuine quality (visible today) and to want him out is madness in our current situation/position. Agree. Merino and Shelvey on the pitch might actually sometimes allow us to look like a football team. It shouldn't be one or the other. They aren't even similar in the role they play Yup. -

Very open to debate that. Maybe so. But one of the primary roles as a central midfielder is passing the ball forward, especially when we lack creativity from our forwards. He's not only the most capable at that out of everyone in our team (by a mile), but he's actually one of the most capable at it in the league despite how much some hate to hear it. -

Wrong. We're much worse without him in the team. -

Aye, want to see all of them starting (and think they will) bar maybe Merino if he's not fit. Shelvey was good today so he should play again Dummett should come in at left back too. -

Why the negativity? We were on a decent run before todays game which was a write off to most anyway. The players don't look void of confidence either, other than maybe Gayle but he won't be starting anyway. Let's brighten up and be a bit more positive man, this wallowing attitude spreads to the pitch and won't get us anywhere. -
What? It's a great freekick, Darlow is marking the opposite side of his goal, a perfectly reasonable position to take up - nothing he can do about it if the player is able to get it up and over with pace.
-
If we get offered 15 million for him we should be snapping their hands off, he offers nothing. We need 2 strikers in this week really as we haven't got any 15? Would take 6, he's finished, terrible. On a positive note, Shelvey & Saivet have been good here, and look like they possess genuine quality when on the ball. Can't say the same about anyone else.
-
A great example of why I disagree with the Shelvey detractors. He played a brilliant early pass there, as he has numerous times in the game already yet the below standard players in front of him can't make anything of it. If he had done that in a Chelsea shirt a chance would have almost certainly been fashioned. Mad to want to get rid of one of our only attacking threats.
-
He seems knackered all the time, so slow and lumbered in everything he does. I really dislike the fact his head is always down too. Plus he's the worst so-called poacher going, his famous movement in the box just doesn't exist.
-
Another good signing for them. Rather them than us. He's one of the slowest players I think I've seen. Not what we need in this league like.

Nicolai Jorgensen to stay at Feyenoord

I'm still pretty confident we will sign him or someone similar. Call me mad. -

Think that's one for the "What are you drinking" thread, Discman.
