I suppose they are quite strong in that area, Weigl seems talented plus with Sahin and now Dahoud too. Oh well, happy to benefit from it.

Makes you wonder why Dortmund didn't fancy him? Or maybe he was never given the chance to show what he can do there as he has been given here. I read an interview with him where he said he felt undervalued at Dortmund whereas he has been very welcomed here, and I think seemingly small, human things like that can have a profound effect on a player in games and in training.

He's predominately right footed, but with him being a ball playing defender he seems competent enough using either. If he can develop his left foot further I think we have our left back sorted for the season - who would have thought it...
-
Yeah I believe it was, one of the first half chances. It's one of the positives to having a right footed player at left back, he can turn in field and comfortably look to the play the ball forward, just as Ritchie does so effectively on the right.

Amazing badges Someone make a Badges of the world thread, then maybe posters can do their best MS Paint impressions of them.

Pamplona is a nice place, the city walls right on the outskirts of the modern city centre are definitely a sight to behold. This magician being from there has made me grow even fonder.

Not really, but not helped by news of a Gene Simmons lookalike and a Paraphilic infantilism sufferer getting arrested whilst trying to climb on the roof of Leazes Terrace lugging a sound system.

Where states that? Would be interested to see as the terms have been a bit ambiguous amongst fans since he signed.

I presume so, an appearance is an appearance. It may or may not include cup games as well, hard to know really.

15 left I think. He came on against Spurs late on and has started our other 4 league games. Assuming he doesn't get injured or dropped, he'll be our player before the end of the year.

Southampton played some good football at the beginning of this game and then it kind of balanced out. Reckon Palace will start to look a bit more solid under Hodgson but I personally feel they have a lot of poor players for this level. Relegation favourites their fans seem to think.

That third goal by Aguero was brilliant

Can't believe we've ended up with this lad like. Had a positive feeling about the signing but f*** me he's exceeded expectations already. Nice to have some real competition and Shelvey now actually has to work for his spot.

You're trying to rinse me before I can even get started on here. Up the hill backwards in the words of Bowie.

Don't see how that's clear considering he's played about a half an hour for us I think Lascelles is still very raw and has a lot of improving to do. It's perhaps naive of me, but the short amount I have seen Lejeune play, albeit pre-season and a small cameo against Spurs, he looks a fairly assured player and comes quite highly rated. -

I think it's pretty clear him and Clark are our best centre backs. However our best partnership (at least at present) is Lascelles and Clark, partially because of Lascelles' determined attitude and leadership, but perhaps also due to the fact they create a balanced right footed/left footed pairing. What are peoples thoughts on having two left footed players at centre back? Doesn't matter? Takes some getting used to? I see Clark and Lejeune as both ball playing defenders, so I wonder who would play on the wrong side... -
Love Rob like. Did anyone see that interview a few weeks back where he said regardless of which club he ends up at, Newcastle will always be the home of his family? A bit like Rafa and Liverpool. Good to have lads like him in and around the first team, of course he's a very solid goalkeeper as well.

Should keep his place. As frustrating as it was watching him miss fairly easy chances (the 1st and the 3rd particularly) we're a much better side with him in the team. His contribution to our build-up play has been essential of late, and is something Gayle unfortunately cannot offer. Glad we got the win and Joselu wasn't made to rue his missed chances, he should be extra fired up to score against Brighton now.
