  1. I believe most of the positives you have pointed out there are as a result of Eddie Howe and whoever identified the players we signed over the first 2-3 years, likely Howe, his nephew and Nickson primarily. Those in suits occupying positions behind the scenes are supposed to make the work of the manager and his players easier, yet they've consistently done precisely the opposite with terrible appointments leading to instability and disarray at crucial times (like now), and what I see as a failure to maximise revenue beyond the basic and obvious when it's one of the only things we can do to combat PSR. I think they also could have found more clever ways to contend with PSR like other clubs have, yet haven't bothered to get creative. The training ground is just baffling at this point to me, it's fallen to complete silence on that front and nobody has a clue what's going on with the supposed multi-billion pound stadium. Is it in the works?
  2. Indeed, likely not many of them would see the fruits of it at this point. At least perhaps they would see a club doing everything they possibly can within the imposed limitations at all levels to progress, which could influence new signings or contract extensions, however it's unlikely many existing players would actually experience it.
  3. They haven't done much like. Failed to get a semblance of harmony and order at board level, failed to begin work on a new training ground (something presumably they promised players when selling them the vision) failed to bring clarity to the stadium situation, failed to bring in commercial deals which weren't tap-ins in Noon, Sela and Adidas. Communication has been poor for a long time, and the pace and efficiency of their work has naturally led to doubts over their proficiency. They appointed Eddie Howe and he alone with his own staff and players have held the whole thing together.
  4. Sesko is a massive physical presence so comes with all of the upsides height and strength bring you, yet with really good acceleration making him good on transitions. He also has a ridiculous shot, rare power and technique. However he can look a bit haphazard and clunky at times on the turn and certainly doesn't have the feet and elegance of Isak. Openda resembles the kind of striker who is also suited to playing on the wing, relatively small but really quick. Again a good transitional player and a fit for us in that respect, but imo we need the option of the physical presence of a Sesko type if we're bringing in Wissa too.
  5. Samu has looked like an absolute nightmare to play against on the handful of occasions I've seen him for Porto. Prefer Sesko as he's a bit further ahead in his development, but Samu would also be exciting.
  6. Found my audience though, evidently!
  7. If true, sell Alex today and bring me Slavoj Zizek's nephew. Sesko with Wissa as back up inspires me.
  8. Nah, we're more than Isak like, we have many brilliant players in our team. We could start with our strongest team but put Mark Gillespie up top and we'd still beat Sunderland.
  9. There's obviously a reason why Sesko at 22 has been courted by Europe's top clubs for years now. Clearly he's the player with much higher potential. Also he's a 6'5 giant, Eddie doesn't want no Openda and Wissa midget strike force surely.
  10. Wissa and Openda... yeah that's not going to be anywhere near good enough, both in terms of quality and to appease the fans. It has to be Sesko or an equivalent in stature/profile to recover any lost momentum.
  11. You may be right, but I wonder what raising his contract would do in terms of clauses in other players contracts and the likelihood of a large portion of them rising thus taking us potentially dangerously close the imposed limit?
  12. Sadly, him openly wanting to leave means it's likely going to be for less than his value. In my mind it's becoming increasingly likely to be £120-30m to Liverpool. And for me, it will be another example of the corruption and anti-competitiveness of the Premier League, as we're backed into this corner in large part because we're simply unable to offer him the wages he deserves, even just for a year to appease him. Not only are we not allowed to truly compete, but we're also unlikely to get full value for our players when we do come to selling as we don't come from a position of strength. I don't mind selling, but I do mind getting rinsed.
  13. Man if all of this amounts to a cut-price sale at say £120-130m, when he is so blatantly worth considerably more in today's market it would send me over the edge to go move to Georgia and support Dinamo Tbilisi and consider my Newcastle United supporting as but a fever dream. Sadly impossible, I am he whose life and soul are torment.
  14. Club just need to release that barnstorming green away kit today to appease the fans.
  15. First your poetic 3 litre creamer bucket tale of such heartwarming sentimentality, now this marvellous Clash rework. Beautiful posting.
  16. It's probably one of the worst imo A player who is not that good nor fits our system, plus less funds which clearly we so desperately need to maximise to have any slim chance of competing.
  17. Gutted if he goes to Liverpool as well. Bad to worse.
  18. If he were to leave, PSG for his true value would be best case scenario, but I'm struggling to see it. They've a settled superstar forward line of Kvaratskhelia - Dembele - Doue. One of them would have to drop out of the first team, likely Doue. Or perhaps they're lavish enough they could afford to have Isak rotate with Dembele.
  19. It's the "minor injury" part which sets off my suspicion of the club statement. Minor in the same way Joelinton and Hall's injuries are minor... As much as the club haven't inspired confidence this window, in a sense there's not much they can do, can't offer top wages, can't radically improve the squad to match Isak's trajectory. Shackled and hindered at every turn leading to only my growing apathy at the current state of top level football.
  20. An Isak brace against these in a 2-0 win with Ekitike diving à la our favourite Frenchman Andy Carroll, and Mamardashvili getting riled up and nutting Murphy in the Fabian Schar school of combat would be a delightful evening
  21. Look fucking delighted by it like, Marcus...
