  1. I get the point but I still do believe most squads including ours adheres to a hierarchy, which does mean certain players will be lower in the hierarchy and therefore somewhat back-up. Eddie would never say it but there's a certain 11 players who he would rather play Bayern Munich at home for instance, and use others for say Wolves away 4 days prior. Semantics really.
  2. Although it doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things, soonish would be nice as I've bought a ticket for Celtic Park next weekend with the hope of potentially seeing him play.
  3. Aye, I rate Joelinton higher and still consider him as one of our most important players. Gallagher as the 4th midfielder and a versatile option with the capacity to potentially cover a few of the midfield roles would be an excellent addition to the squad though.
  4. I think post-takeover, my opinion and criteria on what would be a good, desirable and exciting signing have changed quite a lot over time. Eddie has cultivated a strong identity with certain fundamental qualities, and then pursued and bought players carefully to fulfil roles in that style to make it function. Most importantly, it's a style and an identity the fans almost unanimously enjoy and feel represented by and now trust due to the success it's brought. So now when linked with players like Gallagher and Elanga, where previously I may have found it uninspiring, I'm now excited by how those players could make our way of playing even more effective.
  5. Probably unfounded, but I'm still a bit unclear on how £30-£40m on a goalkeeper is a necessary and good use of our limited capacity to spend this window when a centre midfielder, forward and a defender feel like far higher priority.
  6. Even if so, it's the equivalent to running downhill towards the Gallowgate.
  7. Week or two before Christmas this year but from Sunderland they've got to get to Newcastle and then drive the 1500 miles to Ponteland airport so probably best to set off in September.
  8. They trying to enter the AFCON?
  9. £1.37 billion spent on transfers under Boehly...
  10. Not sure about that, think the 3 man midfield will persist as the primary formation, meaning we need at least one, probably two better quality options with Willock's injury record and poor form. Not really seen any evidence in Eddie Howe's managerial career that he likes to play with a traditional '10'.
  11. Miley and Willock as the only options backing up a 3 man midfield? I've said it before but a quality CM is as important as a back up forward for us. It would be neglectful not to prioritise bringing one in.
  12. Certainly should be, Trafford in with Pope leaving would be a huge gamble, whereas Trafford in with Pope remaining is excellent squad building.
  13. It's a little low for an established PL midfielder but perhaps it's best for all parties to accept it as that's a great move for Sean. Shows how much a decent lad he is as well that Ornstein noted he wants to ensure the club receive a fee for him rather than leaving on a free next year.
  14. Khusanov is another who seems to be out of favour there after only signing in January. The other youngster Reis seems to be Pep's preference. Wonder if there's a question we can ask around Khusanov since he was a target before.
  15. Brighton as well prior to that. Following in the footsteps of his great hero Leon Best.
  16. I don't see it at all, he has a bit of pace and dribbling ability and that's about it. Questionable attitude too. I don't think he's even better than Trossard or Martinelli who are both pretty average themselves. If we had a talented young player like Nwaneri and brought in Madueke to essentially close up his pathway to the first team I'd be pretty disillusioned.
  17. Such an average player. Arsenal fans can't be best pleased bringing in Norgaard and Madueke after finishing second in consecutive seasons largely due to a lack of quality in forward areas.
  18. Looks utterly terrible on Arsenal this, they've turned into a proper rancid club.
  19. Shame we didn't have Barnes that game, I'm sure he would have scored at least one of the early Gordon chances.
  20. Very excited by this. Just turned 23, probably the quickest player in the league, genuinely two-footed and a very good finisher. An Anthony - Alex - Anthony front three in the Champions League will be some watch.
  21. I'm certainly not an expert on football outside of England, but I am generally aware of talent across the main European leagues and I just feel there's a shortage of quality, attainable right sided wingers these days. I haven't really heard a name put forward who is both attainable and obviously better than Elanga. Semenyo perhaps would have been one before he signed his new contract - but I've heard Akliouche, Adeyemi, Madueke, Bakayogo & Kubo mentioned. I don't think any of them are definitively better than Elanga, nor necessarily considerably cheaper either. There's also then the element of character and application which is a key trait for us when signing a player and which Elanga possesses. £50-60m would be a money well spent in today's market imo. Gordon was around £45m over 2 years ago, and Elanga is better than he was when he signed.
  22. I'd regard a CM as an important signing, just behind RW and alongside support at CB & CF. It's as crucial as those two positions imo as we can't be relying on Longstaff or Willock in any meaningful games; nor can we expect Joelinton, Bruno and Tonali to play multiple times a week given the intensity we play with.
  23. He's shite anyway, Pedro. Proper pen merchant.
