  1. The team will look nothing like this come Villa, both in terms of personnel in the starting line up and intensity and quality of play. Nowt to worry about with our current lads, just need a few signings and everyone will be lifted again. It doesn't take much.
  2. This tour given the unfavourable playing conditions and the extent of travel seems less than ideal like. I'm sure Eddie would prefer two weeks in Spain training twice a day and playing against Bilbao, Sociedad and Athletico. Probably necessary we do it like given Asia is likely the biggest overseas 'market' for football.
  3. I hope he does really well, I certainly think it won't take much for him to endear himself to the fans. Seems the kind of character we'd really get behind at St James' and undoubtedly his footwork is decent which is what many have been crying out for. I think the concentration stuff is probably overblown as well tbh.
  4. Lunin? Not sure like, I wonder if some are getting mixed up with Trubin, the younger, superior Ukrainian goalkeeper?
  5. They're awful, uniquely so. They've an attitude which seems to pervade their entire fanbase which is sanctimonious, self-righteous and self-congratulatory. I know it's not cool to refer to it these days, but the Gospels is strewn with paragraph after paragraph warning one of such characteristics in people, and for good reason.
  6. This comment reads like one is drawing too much of a conclusion based on a few stats or graphs. He is excellent at many things beyond heading. For a start his pressing is superb which is a key attribute for any forward we would sign, he has great acceleration, great anticipation and an absurdly powerful strike. He's way more than just an aerial threat.
  7. One potential issue is though if he stays with an agreement that he will be allowed to sign for another club next summer, what happens in those last 10 games of the season, which would be the crucial fixtures for CL qualification and potential finals? We already watched him pull out of games towards the end of last season, whether fitness related or otherwise. If he knows he's going to be allowed to talk to other clubs, he's hardly going to exert himself and risk injury and potentially jeopardising his future...
  8. Maybe Trevan Sanusi is putting him up for a bit in his spare room. Always had Isak down as a man of taste and sophistication, thoroughly disappointed in those house pictures. Sesko would spend 7k rent per month better.
  9. I think we all know he's not going to make it here, same with Parkinson, Murphy, Ashby, Harrison, perhaps even Neave etc. Sounds harsh like, I'd love to be wrong but I just find a lot of our youth prospects who have spent time around the first team in recent years very nondescript. None of them seem to have any stand out qualities, not particularly quick, strong, tall etc. Just kind run-of-the-mill decent technical players. Miley, the only one who has broke through had immediate presence and something distinguished about him. Shahar is probably the one I think we could see something of in the coming years.
  10. He is so ideally suited to our style of play. I personally think we should be getting him regardless of the Isak saga. We know Isak is leaving soon, whether now or January, and Sesko is likely the most tailor-made striker for us out there. The way we score most of our goals is the way he scores most of his. It would/will indeed hurt, this one.
  11. We ought to get him on loan for a bit. Marinakis that is, not Ndoye.
  12. Suds: Boss, I like Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, Joao Pedro, Liam Delap, Hugo Ekitike, James Trafford, Dean Huijsen and Marc Guehi.
  13. Decent player aye, at least from his Euros showing.
  14. I used to believe so, just as I used to believe fan base, adoration and the prospect of iconic status meant something. Those ideas are aligned with the romantic attitude towards the sport which captivates and moves me, however now I think it's as simple as put more money on the table and all else is completely irrelevant. Even club stature, as that's another narrative pushed when actually it's simply a misdirection from the true source of persuasion.
  15. Indeed, and now they're running with the "British record fee" narrative in attempt to fool our supporters into feeling submissive and even grateful for a £120m transfer. Sadly it's working in some quarters too.
  16. I think this window has put to bed the idea that Champion's League qualification and silverware hold the key to signing better players. It's money and money only, all else is just an embellishment. Which indeed works both ways, as if we do fail to qualify for it again next season, beyond financial benefits it's of little consequence to the supposed 'pool' of players unlocked.
  17. Same with CM to be honest. Willock has offered nothing for 2 years and is lacking durability to say the very least if the past is to be used as a predictive measure. You lose him and you're left with Miley to support an entire midfield three in a potentially 60+ game season. Insane. I'd make the case that a new CM is as important, if not more than a CB given the demands of that position and increased likelihood of injury/fatigue.
  18. There's nay need for the blue nor the badge on the tongue which would look childish on my 7 year old nephew. Subtlety, Adidas, subtlety.
  19. Beyond naivete and wilful ignorance, it's hard to see a signing before the first game of the season. It's looking like possibly a few over the last 1-2 days of the window. We're a mess.
  20. Holy shit They light up on the sides when you walk as well?
