It’s not even like they’re playing tonight due to injuries, they’re our first choice starting pair They are for now, however I think behind the scenes Bruce is working on converting Shelvey to a left winger to replace ASM having oversaw the successful transition of Jeff Hendrick, and I don't mean his transition from a white cisgender man to the Jackeen Triple H. That's his own business.

If that were true, it would possibly make you question the ambitions/mentality of some of the players. I'm sure the Liverpool players, some of whom were average before working with Klopp love him for making them winners. The way they play suggests training must be very difficult, gruelling even, but without Klopp half of that team would be begin to look very average imo. It's all speculation though, who knows what the players think of Bruce, or how difficult training is, or what Saint-Maximin was being paid before and what he's on now. We haven't got a clue about anything as fans other than what we see on the pitch really.

Southgate is obviously not the ideal manager, but I think it's also possible that most of our players are overrated. I'd say Harry Kane warrants his acclaim, Sterling maybe. However for the most part, these players are made to look far better by their foreign teammates (or the guidance from their foreign managers) in their respective club teams. For example Sancho regularly gets spoken about like he's Suarez or Messi, but do many actually watch the Bundesliga or do we just believe the hype? We regularly hear about Trent being one of the best right backs in the world, maybe in the future he can be but he's young, prone to errors and not a very good defender. We see all of these names in the squad and expect to see a world class team, I feel like they're just not as good as what we think.

Lots of focus seems to be on Grealish not playing, but imo England's issues run a lot deeper than simply not playing Jack Grealish. He's good but he's not De Bruyne.

Feel sorry for him tbh. Not having the best of time the last few month. Overrated player, for sure, but really going through the mud a bit. A real test of his mental resilience, hope he's strong enough to come out of it better off.

Great move for him. Players like Hatem are a bit of dying breed in a game that is now more about athleticism, stamina, and tactical chess than it is about pure, raw individual footballing ability and excellence. And the game is worse off for it imo. Of course there's exceptions to the rule still, James for Everton a good example.

Need to get on the phone to Aldous Huxley.

I hope some pissed Aston Villa or Everton fan put a bet on this scoreline

Never seen Loftus-Cheek have a good game. One of those players who gets talked up constantly, similarly to Griezmann, yet every time I watch them they're either shite or anonymous.

Impressive from West Ham. Really like Soucek, Bowen & Ogbonna.

I'd have him back here tbf, really like him, however I think his next move will be away from the Premier League.

He’s been outmuscled today by Antonio but I’ve seen him have some really quality games for Leicester. Given he was Maguire’s replacement he looks like a massive upgrade. Don't think he or Maguire are good enough at defending tbh. They're heralded for their ability on the ball but make the most basic errors defensively.

Thought that Soyuncu was meant to be quality. Doesn't look like he can defend to me. Players like him get talked up so much yet so often leave so much to be desired. Just makes me appreciate the likes of Lewis Dunk even more, a genuinely quality defender who should be considered one of the best in the league, however he's called Dunk and doesn't roll 15 yard passes round the back all day.

He looks more like a contender for the Intercontinental Championship than a winger. That's for sure.
