As far as home draws go, probably the second worst we could have got (I'd have fancied us more against Man U) but home draw and avoid Man City can't draw complaint.

Kin hell it still not done. Back to holiday lemmings then

Just heard Shay Given is doing the draw. Man City written all over it now I fear.

We had Leeds number at the time. They'd spent all that money but even the year before when we were average and without a load of players (even Marcelino had to play) we beat them twice, played them off the park more often than not in those days. Robert and Solano had their full backs on toast, though that's not saying much with Mills. Got to be one of my favourite goals that by Nobby. Great way of putting it. We played to the individual attributes of all the players and excelled as a team because of it, without any of them, a slowed down Shearer included, being a total package. Viduka got some grief too for a running battle for Dabizas. In the return he got "fat Aussie b*stard" after it flared up again. Cracking player though, when fit.

With all that going for them and apparently being the new Rome/Athens in ancient times, its almost incredible that they've degenerated into being considered an unpleasant backwater by everybody outside the backwater, having no identity and being a third rate club....then you experience the mackem mentality and it all makes sense.

Leicester City vs. Newcastle United - 26/12/22 @ 3pm (Amazon Prime Video)

I'd take a draw because having only lost once all season losing would sting like f*ck now. Recalling how bitter I was when Grimsby beat us after winning thirteen straight. Famous last words but can't see it not being a good game. Another test. -
A sort of Lincoln memorial

Is that about the Fulwell end at the derby match in 1985?

Not bothered about performance in cup ties especially when we know what we can do. Cant ask any more than to be the better team, we were, should have been, but were. Getting to the FA Cup final in 98 was an absolute slog from start to finish.

I see Bournemouth like I used to see Charlton. Often just really awkward for us. Don't know what the score is with the disallowed goal, no VAR yet that's how VAR should be used, voice in the refs ear "yeah he touched it" "no he was onside" rather than the faffing on.

Think that was more to do with network rights.

Probably both loving the idea of an excuse for more content to churn out. Both seem the sort that could create a drama for that end.

Just watched Match of the Day from 4/12/93 on Saturday. Was cracking. Lovely football by Norwich at Man U. Its become crash TV the last few decades, you don't get a feel for a game, they all come off the same roughly five attacks each way (if they can manage it) and as much time spent on replays as the actual highlights. They've dumbed it down to try and appeal to people who have the least interest in watching it rather than educating people that often times games can be shit and to accept that.

Commentate's like he played. Always there but what he brings fuck knows.

And is that hounding out? Some people booed after we lost to Grimsby after winning 15straight under Keegan. I definitely recall a third full Old Trafford staying behind to applaud Man U around the pitch in 2005 after being beaten and booed off against Chelsea. Was that hounding Sir Alex out? We got booed off many times under Sir Bobby. 2000/01 was a horrible season with some of the worst games I'd seen. Why is it always the Wolves game? That's not hounding out otherwise every set of fans everywhere does it to every manager.
-
Was that a serious post you've responded to? Thought it was a wummery. Sir Bobby wasn't hounded out, nor was Ben Arfa and Dyer had been next to useless for 3years which was about a third of his career as it turned out. Whilst Robert was hounded out by an idiot of a manager and the previous owner had a little something to do with the stagnation as I recall.

Barry from Auf Wiedersehen Pet went to Saudi after series 1 didnt he? These prats make out like he'd have been effectively joining ISIS

World Cup Final: Argentina 3-3 France (4-2 pens) - Argentina are world champions
Wolfcastle replied to 54's topic in Football
Not a final but they say West Germany v France in 82 was like this. Regarded as a classic but for most of the game was pretty drab they say. Watching this again now and it really wasn't a game for 80minutes notable for anything other than an exceptionally bad performance from France and a great Argentine second goal. As a foot note, couldn't watch Extra so tried to avoid, put the radio on (Metro) and the first song I heard in full was "Finally" by Ce Ce Peniston (also got a bunch of highlights on disk from the 78 World Cup to watch over Christmas) coincidence? Yes. -
Yeah. Saw someone say the other day that they're so at peace with Ashworth/Howe in the market that its taken a bit of fun out of it. The idea of Ashworth's Brighton business with out budget/future budget and pull is most assuaging. Not heard of a player?! Doesn't matter. Total trust in them. Would love McAllister.

Much better quality, i mean France were pathetic for most of that game. West Germany weren't. No dodgy pens. Counter attacking goals to match Di Maria's and a clean win (not pens). Not as dramatic maybe but better, unless drama is what you're looking for. -

Italy beating England in 2012 on penalties after dominating 99% of the game -
Shame they're missing an enthralling world cup final on account of it being sportswashing. At least I presume they're putting their money where their mouths are and boycotting it.

Baggio vibes all over. He scored in every knock-out game too (no jammy pens either) -
