I know. I've never subscribed to this idea that he'd be a good owner for XYZ a club that people float. Based on what?! He's been nothing but a total c**t. He ran us like we were Coventry/Derby he'd run Coventry/Derby like they were Burton/Mansfield. He's in it for him and creaming the surpluss off the top of what a club really is and what he wants it to be is his game.

A lot of their problem is as a club and fanbase they're insecure so inflate the attendances with made up figures or at best cheap tickets. The revenue from the inflated attendances doesn't exist except in the fans minds and gives them the idea they should be competing with clubs who actually get those gates and charge more money. Thus pressure on managers and owners when they don't compete on the field with teams they don't compete with off it. Thus adding to the insecurity. All just to avoid reality.

Used to be an irritant in other sports but you lads just don't leave regrets on the field when it comes to application. Grown to admire it.

Don't think either of those sides were good. Australia obviously fair enough but Argentina aren't much above average if they even are. And they're not battle tested in their last two games. There for the taking for the Dutch I feel but Van Gaal will try and reinvent the wheel no doubt. Wouldn't begrudge them because of their fans.

Garang Kuol: Joins Sparta Prague in permanent deal (Official)

Couldn't ask much more from the moment, took it down, turned, shot on target with power - one of the better pieces of forward play in the game -
Yeah. The previous rebuilds show that. If they had the chance again they'd do it differently and bigger because it cost us a lot of money having to go twice.

We'll never have artists like Cruyff, Maradona and Pele again. Very sad yet to be very celebrated for that impact.

Back in the day in Europe clubs would under-sell their gates to avoid paying tax on their receipts. Wonder how many the mackems would claim are in attendance if that were brought in.

My gage is that we averaged 50,000 in the Championship basically because of the manager after nearly 10years of horrific ownership (It would have been higher if the capacity was higher) Were selling out every game now during an economic crisis that hopefully abates as soon as possibe and at the beginning of this project. Anything less than 65,000 is selling us short I fear and not taking into account future growth. Don't worry about 'day trippers' that's going to happen one way or the other whether through capacity or pricing out.

You cant parody them. "We've (Sunderland) beat Liverpool to Wickham for £12M" They 'beat Liverpool to the signing of Connor Whickham' weirdly the same summer their best player went to Liverpool. Its almost like Liverpool could have plucked anybody they wanted from Sunderland's grasp or something. Canny goal for Forest Green the other week mind. He could have been yours Liverpool.

Group F: Belgium, Canada, Morocco, Croatia (Morocco and Croatia qualify)
Wolfcastle replied to Big River's topic in Football
Great attitude from Canada, playing hard just for the equaliser. Brought something to the tournament unlike Wales and Poland albeit they got through. Belgium completely finished. Witsel one of the most over-rated players ever. Martinez has to start over somewhere. Morocco are nothing special but could best whoever they get next if its not Spain. Croatia just about not quite bang average plus they play their way. -
"Their first team plays matches while the world cups on, Sunluns a massive club"

That's what's so annoying about Wales, Denmark, Poland. That teams worse than them can have a go. Australia would if they could, they're just limited. Used to be a big deal when there was an exceptionally boring team or two at the world cup - Bulgaria 86, Uruguay 90, Norway 94. Every groups got at least one now it seems.

Well done you US lads, that's the outcome I wanted. At least have prospects against an unimpressive Holland. -

They couldn't have asked for a better group either and were entirely awful. At best they weren't completely shit for one half but were in all the others I know they're shit but still, they're not the only ones and that was a sorry campaign. -

Group over. A mercy killing. Wales have stunk the place out. -

Definitely will be and that's what I'll be doing. Got no time for either England or Wales admittedly but cant see it being good. Either easy for England, turgid struggle for England or Wales hanging on to something. -
Think they probably thought the homage was naming the restraurant after him and a stand too would be overkill.
