  1. Probably just shouldn't be allowed to be owned by anybody outside whatever country your team is in. Get no cultural differences that way. There again why just limit it to football or sport. Its the same tentacles in business and the same morals.
  2. leffe186 (post on previous page)that's remarkably similar to me. Blackburn didn't sit well as opposed our more natural similar growth (15k in the PL v 31k in D1) and Chelsea finished off any last lingering love of football. Just didn't matter how well a manager did elsewhere, how many fans a club got - you couldn't compete and feared it was the start of a slipperly slope - but was assured by the media it was good for football (post ITV digital) and that the money would trickle down. We were the first victims of Abramovic, Chelsea instead of doing a Leeds, leap-frogged us into a champions league place - didn't matter how good Sir Bobby was or how much better our support was. Felt kinda futile. Then Ashley came along and inverted even the ability to enjoy ones own team in itself. Thus was conditioned to being numb when Man City were bought by even more wealthy owners. 'At least its Man City' I thought. Birmingham and Man City owners doing time, Russia, Qatar World Cups and all the rest of it, football was gone as any kind of moral entity, thought that was a given it was so seldom touched on until it was rediscovered (between world cups that 99% will indulge in) when it came to us. If we were the first I'd be against it but this is the game everyone else had just gone along with for the last 20years.

    Isaac Hayden

Could just say that by twelve men he was referring to Chelsea's vaunted support.
  4. They're like that arsehole on Prometheus that has the mapping technology, an audio and visual link up back to the ship that has a read out of where they are within a structure and yet somehow (deus ex machina) get lost. They deserve to be killed by aliens. Same goes for the characters in that film
  5. If we'd got a point or Watford hadn't won I'd have looked at this as a chance to toy with them in front of a nervous crowd. Too early for a rallying cry atmosphere and hopefully that s**t crowd will probably still come into effect. Need players back. One win and that should be us. Don't want to get sucked back in.
  6. Probably Rennie sending Shearer off for nowt, which lead to Shearer being suspended and not starting against the mackems, which lead to Sir Bobby arriving.
  7. Got to avoid defeat at Everton still.
  8. Didn't want to predict our results so did it a different and I've got us needing 2points to stay ahead of Everton and Watford, 6 Burnley and 9 Leeds and Brentford. So presumably Norwich, Everton and Watford - if we don't lose to Everton.
  9. Thats radge that. Why would it have to be enough to go down for it to be a foul, a short sharp yank would be enough to put someone off their kick/stride and be a foul.
  10. There is that. Its things like this performance that make me more trusting that many of the wins. With what we had out today... the foundations are set.
  11. Was going to say in the pre-match 'please no stupid chants' Hope these prats are rooted out and told about themselves, Pearson-esque
  12. Malevolent intent aside I didn't mind that. He out cunted himself on that one. I didn't mind the change. Being more of Kelly/Quinn/Ferdinand man myself.
  13. 94/95 too. They hardly got out of their half in the second-half of that.
  14. We're not getting anything there surely!? Run can't go on forever, too many players out, they're obviously a top team....and yet not a write off. If we could put a full team out against them it would have been very intriguing.
  15. Don't know about Liverpool they were a bit also-ranny at the time. The first Abramovic game was at Anfield and my impression although yonks ago was that they were very much in favour of the story that was Chelsea winning. Was there first win at Anfield in X amount of years. iirc. Also the people I was referring was Talk Sport and were most definitely in the media and southern when I heard them say what I quoted. Even happy that the money was helping West Ham out. They never said that about Man City or us. Also see Martin Samuel still now on Abramovic.
  16. Saudi (and the other Arabs) would have to invade Yemen with Iran staying completely out of it for any of this to happen. And its not going to happen. Its generally similar because its war and people dying but ultimately a different scenario without a clear aggressor and amounts air support that we've participated in ourselves over the years, that will be requested or welcomed by half the Yemeni population.
  17. Under pressure now that fella that got Bournemouth relegated is making him look a right cunt
  18. "play the fucking ball! Fucking play the ball. fucks sake" isn't it With tactical instruction like that I struggle to see how West Brom are failing
  19. They absolutely loved it mate. Sky, the lot of them. It was just a ride, entertainment to them. "Drogbarrrrrr". It made me feel like it just didn't matter how much support we had or could have, or whether we qualified for the CL again it just didn't matter against wealth like that. Blackburn couldn't last but this skewed everything. But when we play the game THEY made, that we were the first club to lose out too...different story.
  20. I remember feeling weird when he bought them but was assured by the southern media that it was good for football and that the money would filter down. Even then there were suspicions and doubts but they were quickly swept under the rug and seldom if ever touched on and even though they were a lot less receptive to Man City and outright hostile to us, the vanguard that caused all this went unmentioned and in fact were the bad guys for being bought and its not even to assuage their guilt.
  21. Don't know whether to watch the West Brom game or the rugby Mass shapeless defence, hoofing the ball up into the air and hoping to bludgeon something at the other end or the rugby
  22. Gets the manager of the month curse out of the way with what was a free-hit at Chelsea anyway
  23. I've got 18 unbeten under Keegan including x3 league cup games and x3 UEFA cup games from 93/94 - 94/95 (with 16 of them won) - must be the pinnacle. 12 in the PL.
