That avg rating data spread. A whopping 2.9% across a range of 20 teams

Does he also not rate Miley? 👀

Looks like in the league the last time we won in stoppage time was the Harvey Barnes West Ham match. Not really a criticism of us though really, we've had plenty where the winners have just happened earlier.
-
Just looking at last season, there weren't that many matches we won by one goal and of those matches we scored earlier anyway. Could be wrong, but Fulham looks like it was the only match we lost in stoppage time as well. We've already had two this season we've lost.
-
Chelsea at home, not that long ago. EDIT: Ah hold on, a winner. Not sure, but tbf we often haven't needed to.

Oh yeah, I meant of the pen decisions. Woltemade and we paid the price for him not hitting the deck on that one, which is yet another motivation for players to play act from the top down. VAR is still a net win decision-wise for me, because I think we forget just how bad things were in that respect before it, coupled with it still getting a fair bit wrong, but I dunno if it'll ever get there. I thought the automated offsides would be a big leap, but it turns out they're not what we thought we were getting and are not even really automated?
-
Rules shmules, we both know they're reverse engineered to fit whatever decision is made while still being regularly highly subjective to interpretation and the incidents themselves. The Gyokeres one could have easily been one of those ones where they argued that yes, Pope got the ball, but in taking the man out at the same time he prevented him from getting it afterwards - they're total bullshit, but we've seen that happen. The Bruno one would have been the harshest of the three, Gabriel's was by far the most blatant because of where his arm was.
-
Counterpoint, plenty on here still thought the Gyokeres' one was a pen/could have still been given.
-
You're not neutral Even the majority of r/football upvoted comments don't think it's a clear penalty.

Or just watch the video

Not for me, no - it's in the seen them given but the majority would class it as extremely harsh category for me, but in the context of a game where Gabriel's wasn't given it would be an absolutely outrageous decision. Of the three calls (Pope, Gabriel, Bruno) it's the one that's least a pen.

He reminds me of the jealous servaillance earwigger in The Lives of Others.

Not sure on this narrative about them being much better tbh. They're better than last season, but I'm still yet to see them look anywhere near as good as they were in 22/23. Imo the standard at the top of the PL has slipped massively this season and last, probably due to Man City dropping off and Klopp leaving. The positive spin you can put on that is that it's much more competitive now, but the other side of it is that I don't think the leap you need to take from where we are to the top is anywhere near as big in terms of quality, even if financially and in terms of depth it's still huge.

Ah you just couldn't do it could you?

Him and Salah both in the same weekend getting away with the most unnatural position that your arm can possibly be in and reaping the rewards.
-
It's by far Arsenal's biggest strength. Not only do they have the strategy for it, but they've got excellent headers of the ball and a player with consistently exceptional delivery.
-
He put in a few of our best balls all match and had their right back worried. Nothing spectacular, but a regular threat and a good performance imo. Considering the system we played, the expectations of him because of that system, and the other players who were really poor that he needed (Joelinton and Bruno) I thought he was fine and it was an improvement from him.
-
I think my conclusion on it is that the deflection doesn't change the fact his arm is in what you would call a textbook unnatural position, and is so negligible anyway that it's a distinction without a difference. That Gabriel should have seen red, then got away with that, then scored is absolutely typical like. Weirdly, my disappointment in our performance is what's making it an easier pill to swallow. If I thought our performance deserved a draw or a win I'd be raging over it.
-
Still not at the point where I'm convinced he's an amazing defender, but I thought he was very good today and I have every confidence in him when he's actually on the ball.
-
It's not just you and it's just an honest observation, not sure how else to express it any other way tbh It doesn't seem that big a deal or any different to your 'risible' and 'OTT' remarks, but if you felt like the intention was solely to belittle then apologies.
-
No idea how it's condescending tbh, I just disagree with you and am explaining why. It's hardly profound to say that we lost because our set up, approach to the game and performances weren't right, resulting in reactions like the ones you've quoted. There's plenty that happened in the match that supports that view.
-
Or any guarantee he wouldn’t. I have my view on the whole thing and I doubt it'll change. Main point is that I can't agree with this idea we 'had to' sell a player we demonstrably didn't

Do you really want to do this? Did he start for Liverpool yesterday?
