Howe has earned the right to demand we put in a £20m bid to bring Carlton Palmer out of retirement because he's figured out how it'll work tbh. I'm all for having a DoF but having one doesn't mean that Howe doesn't have the talent that DoFs have in abundance. His record with players, especially centre backs, is top tier.

If he's refused Juve's contract offer he's probably looking for more than we can offer. If he's in our wage structure then £12m on him is absolutely a shot worth taking. Did I mention he was my dream signing when the takeover happened? Not sure if I've mentioned it.

There's generally less 'buy in' from players who aren't permanently attached to the club, without there being an obligation to buy at the end. Something along those lines.

So much of our support these days reminds me of people who ask to speak to the manager. More interested in approaching everything as a consumer rather than a supporter.

Same goes with the Man United one on Saturday, it's a stupid rule with no flexibility but they made the right decision by the rule. The rule needs to change basically, but tbh I'm not sure it would mean allowing Bournemouth's goal yesterday, it would be more instances like Zirkee, or if a defender smashes the ball into their arm and it goes in. Used for situations where the ball was already going in, or the attacker isn't at fault.

Hardly surprising. Everyone other than Pope is dog shit, the Greek lad was signed solely for FFP and the 3, arguably 4 positions we've targeted all summer are CB, RW, GK, and (if the Hezze link is true) DM. All positions that do need strengthening.

Yeah. Scored the most amount of goals we ever have last season though, so can see why Howe is focusing on a CB. We don't have too much problem with scoring, but still look shaky at the back.

Yeah but I was responding to about how a new RW was needed 5 years ago, that the last good RW we had was HBA etc. All just completely ignoring Miggy being very good for a good 15 months or so and allowing us to focus on other important positions

So was Joelinton's and a fair few others. It's only with hindsight that it's talked about as a purple patch.

These things are real, just with us alone we've been title condenders yet still always come up short against Southampton or Wimbledon away, then again just in London under SBR. I don't buy this idea that these records are meaningless when they're so ubiquitous. I predicted a 2-1 loss because of that, because we were away and because Bournemouth are a decent side. So to come away with a 1-1, having an excuse doesn't come into it. We got a better result than I expected. Obviously if you predicted a Newcastle win then you're less happy with it.

Been out so only seen the highlights now. I predicted a 2-1 loss and we seem to always be shite against them, especially away, so will take a draw all day. Goal rightly disallowed as well, it clearly comes off his arm so it's not really controversial.
