The only Messi comparison I can accept is that he has comparable natural talent for dribbling. Anything beyond that is just feeding the people who think the HBA fanboys are off their tits I think.
-
He supports Leyton Orient IIRC

Blink 182 syndrome, doing a song live so often that after a while the tempo's doubled.

I think Edwards either has the most blatant case of unconscious bias I've seen, or snooty antagonism is just a way for him to get people engaged. He might not even realise he's doing it, but he puts out pieces where the only consistent thread in them is that they contradict what fans are saying on Twitter - right down to him putting a positive story about being close to signings last week when fans were getting pissed off with the transfer window. Now we win and he's back to putting out Buzz Killington pieces about how they must do better. To me it doesn't matter whether his points have merit - anyone can make points that have merit and there'll be others making the same ones he is anyway - it's that I think he has an air of inauthenticity to what he says at best, and deliberate, outright hostility towards fans at worst. The narcissism, brain-dead stubbornness over Bruce/Rafa/Staveley, patronising tone, and complete denial of being the way he is are all byproducts that just turn me off him even more. Hans reckons he probably doesn't even watch football and he does often come across like that as well.

Didn't @ManDoonhave stats showing he has one of the lowest in the league? 0.4 per game or something? Maybe the truth's somewhere in the middle
-
What's the story behind Shelvey's celebration btw? Always thought it might be this, but looking at it now it's probably far too self-deprecating

Looking at it again I think I know what their reasoning will be. If you watch, ASM has his legs sweeped, but there's a moment after that but before he goes down where it looks like he has his footing sorted, before then losing it again. In real time I didn't think it was a pen, watching the replay it's a pen all day long, but I think that moment would have been their arbitrary (because it always fucking is) for not giving it.

Can honestly say I haven't seen a player with the same dribbling style and natural talent that he has in my life (Obv Messi, but it's not the same style as HBA). Players like that are unique. Similarly I've never seen another player with the same dribbling style as Beardsley. That's what we won't see again, rather than a player who's better. It's fine though, there'll be others and they'll be loved for who they rather than their similarity to HBA or anyone else.

Not with a court case hanging over him and only 18 months on his contract imo. Those things notwithstanding, he might be.

Yves please. £50m though

What a performance! I said it in the match thread but I'm sure he stopped 100% of the attempts to run and cross past him. Used the ball smartly and won the free kick for the goal. Was arguably MOTM on that basis, but probably just misses out to Schar who was great all game.

That Salisu has looked class every time I've watched Southampton. Definitely one to keep an eye on I reckon.
-
I thought he was even good in the first half tbh. Thought him and Raphina stuck out as better than everyone else first half. Second half was quieter, more defensive, but again good.
-
It honestly took me like 3 weeks to get over the jetlag and adjusting to the time difference when I went to Japan.
-
Those horrific 3rd strips should be giving opposition teams extra incentive to beat them like.
-
I can't help but like him despite his weaknesses, he never stops.
-
This is exactly it. When matches are described as must win it's not always the case because points are gained in mysterious ways.
-
Thought he did what he was supposed to do in the air fairly well, but would have liked more from him positionally in the box and hold up play. There was an almost chance I'd have fancied him to bury, where a Leeds defender nicked in because the ball to him wasn't quite right, so I can definitely see him getting goals.
-
The side effects definitely wore off in the second half then. A couple of short passes and not scoring at the end aside he was quality.
-
I downmarked ASM for the relentless strops, staying on the ground, and taking ages to get back afterwards tbh. Whether he's right or wrong, the game's moved on and we needed him. I'm absolutely not an effort over talent sort either, Ginola's my favourite player ever and my admiration for HBA borders on perverted, but I thought ASM took the piss with the whinging today. I counted at least 4 times he did it and the game had moved on with Leeds on the counter.
-
Manquillo didn't put a single foot wrong when he came on. I'm almost certain he blocked 100% of the attempts to either get past him or cross pass him, then used the ball well when he had it.

Dubravka 7 Trippier 7.5 Lascelles 7/Clark 7 Schar 7.5 Dummett 6/ Manquillo 8 (was so impressed with his sub performance) Fraser 6.5 Joelinton 7/Longstaff 7 Shelvey 7 Willock 7.5 Wood 5 Saint-Maximin 5

Right here and fucking loving it.
-
Fucking YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSS! Football is chaos. Fucking brilliant, get the fuck in! Drink it in boys, drink it in! I was telling Shelvey to fuck off for sending Trippier away from that free kick right up until the moment it went in, like.

ASM goes on like a toddler like.
