  1. Been curious for a while about how these seasons with big changes to squads affect the performance of successful teams while they're transitioning. Obviously a fair bit of context is stripped here and correlation ≠ causation, but it's a hunch at this point that at the very least big squad overhauls/changes to key players in successful teams present a huge risk for drop off. Man City 23-24 to 24-25 91 to 71 -22% Followed up by: 25-26 - ~83 +16% Liverpool 21-22 to 22-23 92 to 67 -27% Followed up by: 23/24 - 82 +22% 24/25 - 84 +25%/2.4% and: 24-25 to 25-26 84 to ~60 28% Newcastle 24-25 to 25-26 66 to ~50 24%
  2. Aye, I agree. You'd be paying for the name at this point. Absolutely cracking player on his day, but that day looks like it's gone.

Forgot to mention this last week, but my SiL works quite high up for a food brand. Newcastle got in touch with them last week to redesign their match day menu to include more vegan stuff and the Big Friendly German (a vegan) is going to be leading it, as well as doing all the marketing. A small thing, but you'd imagine it means he stays.
  4. That's right lads, don't let the proposition of being happy about today get in the way of living relentlessly in your real world.

It's not but I don't think it's that uncommon like. Bet it's even more like that in training.

Storm in a teacup I think.

Took a shot, when there was not really anything on. Could have maybe recycled it but it wasn't like he failed to square it for an open goal or something. Storm in a teacup imo.

Didn't seem like something to shit on him for tbh, there was nothing on. He played well I thought.
  9. Strangely I don't think that match was that different than our usual fare this season. We played through the middle a bit more and there was more one touch stuff, but we followed the same pattern of sprinting out of the blocks then easing off then playing with fire a bit. We've played as well or better than that this season and come up short, so it was very nice to get the win. Thought our players all faded, understandably, but thought Thiaw, Ramsey, Osula were all very good. Osula in particular is unrecognisable from the player we signed, that rawness has gone but the desire is still there, really impressed with his improvement.
  10. Weird season at the bottom like. Not that many terrible teams. Wolves and West Ham in particular really don't seem that bad. Spurs have been extremely lucky.
  11. If only our last 5 years had been as wonderful as Sunderland's. đŸ˜¢
  12. Lads, jump on board with not caring about them, it's so much better.
  13. Think that's why. Many would disagree with you on that.
  14. Alonso's a good appointment but it's another case of them needing to get the new expensive toy, but in manager form. His style of management doesn't strike me as fitting in with their structure where the manager basically has no say in player recruitment and is in charge of coaching and taking the flack when it goes to shit.
  15. FWIW that Woltemade photo is an AI upscale of a grainier photo of a screen with it on, that seems to be why the blue is off.
  16. Love that statement coming from Salah when he's been absolute chod for ages.
  17. Think that's been edited like, the blue isn't that light. Shame because that looks better imo.
  18. Good. Think their cool card has expired over their ultra's continued support of Israel. Left wing football club my arse.
