  1. Current state of squad (swapped Hojlund, suspected hamstring, for Watkins and Chaplin for Minteh, two preseason goals). I’m normally poor at this, any glaring errors?
  2. I swapped him for Conor Chaplin (Ipswich), same price and decent chance of goals and assists.
  3. I’ve still got an original somewhere (and a FA Cup final-Arsenal-home top with same grandad collar).
  4. Not going to Japan. Which speaks volumes given lack of forwards.
  5. Let’s hope he doesn’t ‘do a Chris Wood’. Might have to put him in my fantasy team. £5.5m and two preseason goals from midfield. (If it’s any consolation me picking someone is usually as good as a hex!)
  6. So is the actual collar a white band crew neck? Thought it was the same collar design as the home strip.
  7. I haven’t seen anything other than an image, but thought it looked canny and it’s a cracking having the burgundy and blue hoops back.
  8. You don’t like the burgundy and navy hoops? Each to their own, but bordering on sacrilege to me!
  9. There are other explanations than living in LaLa land for someone imagining things are running smoothly with regards to transfers. Unless you’re equating ‘running smoothly’ with quickly getting to desired destination. Then obviously, we haven’t got the players in (and out) as quickly as we would all like to. If by running smoothly you mean that all the conditions are in place: we know the parameters of what we can spend (with the Rubic’s cube complexity of possible outgoings and fees), we’ve identified our wish lists for a variety of players in a number of positions, we’re enquiring and doing what we can to arrive with the best combination we can acquire, then how do you know? what makes you so certain that things aren’t running smoothly? Seems to me that everything may well be clicking ‘process’/running smoothly wise, just the outcomes haven’t occurred yet. I think the LaLa land description is more appropriate for anyone thinking we are not working flat out to build a better squad. So many good things about last season and so close to being where we want to be as a club, and we missed out due to injuries/lack of squad depth and rub of the green. Decision makers at this club are not stupid people, not content with staying in the PL. We will make signings and may well be doing the very best you could expect in order to get what we need.
  10. Rank stupidity. Assume this kind of violent conduct, even in a ‘friendly’, can lead to a ban in competitive matches this season? Just checked it’s Jayson Molumby, aged 24, 67 appearances for The Baggies and 24 full caps for Ireland. Not a young un getting a preseason run out as I suspected.
  11. I was pleasantly surprised/thought he played well yesterday, without doing anything particularly remarkable.
  12. Added pace is a bonus, particularly against defence splitting passes to quick forwards. Players who can read a game Schar and Trippier spring to mind aren’t disadvantaged facing most attacking scenarios.
  13. How do you know he has been with the club training this summer? edit: ah, you mean England.
  14. Good analysis and warning against blind acceptance of the: he’s getting on, we have an able alternative, we can get some cash for him narrative.
  15. First half midfield. Second half interchanged with Lewis at left of three defenders or left wingback. Looked confident and tidy in midfield role and generally had a good game. Lots of people seemed even more enthusiastic than that about his performance.
  16. Sanusi https://onefootball.com/en/news/liverpool-gutted-as-trevan-sanusi-chooses-to-sign-for-newcastle-united-instead-report-38149696
  17. Lost last few minutes. Presuming nowt notable happened.
  18. Young Charlton coming on. Nice to see some good border reiver genes getting a chance!
  19. Screen’s having a pixelated ‘moment’ this end. But yes. One of four young subs. Think he’s wearing 48.
  20. Excited to see Alfie Harrison
  21. Nice play Lewis (back at LWB!) and Barnes. Isak should have hit the target.
  22. Hall swapped with Lewis now, I think. Playing third position of the game.
  23. Barnes playing behind Isak? Defo mixed up the formation.
  24. Looks like Hall has gone to left back. Or left of a three with Lewis wing back.
