Sounds a fantastic player, but he left aged 22, in 1966, before most people on here were born (even me!). So no surprise really. Many others who on ability could/should feature (Milburn, Hughie G, Bobby Moncur, Frank Hudspeth—who apparently, should be the best shout for the LB role—Joe Harvey, Colin Veitch, etc etc) are just lost in the mists of time and legend (for most). Lovely to see someone from that era feature though, so fair play to you.

Or fit as a lop and strong as a bull!

I like Hall for the LB/WB role, but he is prone to a Beresford style charge up the pitch which leaves him out of position. Not a bad thing (when our attack doesn’t break down) but a bit more covering pace in LCB would be a big asset.

Starting to get concerned about this, feel like we should have had some kind of emphatic statement if losing him is a definite no.

Chuffed for Ritchie. Pompey fans seem delighted too. He’ll no doubt be as much of an asset off the pitch as on.

Makes sense I guess. I lived in South Manchester for twenty years (kids all support City) and took great delight in seeing a friend of son’s, from very Man Utd family, decide he was also going to support Man City 😂 Glory hunting Mancs!

Trafford and Salford are the more ‘red’ boroughs of Greater Manchester. Stockport, Central, East and South Manchester more blue. North Manchester (proper, I.e. within city limits) seems more even. Don’t think it’s a deprived area thing, Salford is pretty much Gateshead in terms of indices of multiple deprivation.

Not set off a ‘clamming-drool-must have’ kind of feeling (wtf am I on about…) but do love a ‘hipsway’ style dribbler, and he’s quick and direct. Would be happy with him and The Juice as options if it meant we got Guehi.

Remember him as quick, had a trick in him/would dribble. Limited final product. I liked him but he was frustrating; can’t recall specific examples but sense he juts lacked that final ball/bit of self belief to try the shot or pick the pass. Best modern comparison that springs to mind is think of Sterling on a bad day; gets there and the slows down, fluffs it, or goes back.
