Did you not think he played that position surprisingly well? Had loads of the ball in the first half hour and looked our biggest threat at times.

I think it was a small margins thing yesterday, we were on top and more fluent in possession that we have tended to be this season, and for long periods, but just couldn’t finish. Osula has definitely developed (through necessity), which is great to see, but he isn’t yet a top six striker. Plus Bruno has many positive qualities as does Joelinton but they’re not finishers. We need a striker and another attacking midfielder who can finish, provides that extra little bit of quality. We would have been out of sight yesterday and in other games we have been pegged back if we had that.

He has been such a consistently important player. Love how he seems to take it all in his stride. Seems like a genuinely happy and easy going chap. Rare combination with that much ability/talent.

He was pretty much running the game for twenty minutes .

Is it sunny where you are? Maybe pop out and do a bit of gardening?

Bugger! Just a bit too much on it from Nick (would have backed him above anyone 🤷♂️)
-
At this rate reckon Hall is our right back and Tino our left back (from October…) next season!

Beautiful link up play Wolt and Murphy’s down the right. More of that please.

Really looking forward to this. Good to see a bench with 8 first teamer’s/players who could easily start on it. Surprising given the injuries . -
Found this (from last season—or a decade ago using the Fan-feelings-barometer), that makes a pretty strong case for his flexibility/adaptability as a manager. Concluding, that because of this, he is categorically and undeniably an elite manager. Make of that what you will.

It’s the brave new world… or the shit financially controlled monopoly 🤷♂️… of the elite EPL.

AI says… “Fashanu made only one first-team appearance (for NUFC), coming on as a substitute. His lone game was a 1-0 defeat against Peterborough United in a Rumbelows Cup (League Cup) third-round tie on 29 October 1991 (Manager was Ardiles). Following the unsuccessful trial, he signed for Torquay United in November 1991, where he experienced a brief career resurgence. While his playing contribution was minimal, the spell is noted historically because Newcastle United provided him a professional platform at a time when many other clubs were unwilling to associate with an openly gay player.”

I found this quite interesting: https://totalfootballanalysis.com/player-analysis/curtis-jones-at-liverpool-202425-scout-report-tactical-analysis-tactics

Does he really only have one approach? Has there been no tactical and system variation over this season? I am just curious that this seems to have become an accepted fact. I wonder whether those who watch home and away and have more knowledge than me about such things really don’t see any differences?
-
I could see Jones being a really important player for us. I am less hung up on the money (it is all mad numbers really) and also it is worth thinking about the blend of the team as a whole rather than the skill set of particular players who (1) we could realistically attract and (2) would improve our squad (or replace what we’ll lose…).

Maybe it was easier as it was in an out of town area that was pretty much disused/dilapidated. Next to a new stadium built for the Commonwealth Games.
-
Was there not a whole debate (humorous at times) at how quick (or not) he was when we signed him and before he had even played?
-
Seems super confident (and a tad self-congratulatory) and statements made suggest he/she has a very inner circle source. Accurate crystal ball in the past?
-
Agree with your overall sentiment but no. This wouldn’t make him out statistically our best ever. Your point is like saying Pardew was a better manager than Roeder, because Pardew won way more games and also stuck around for longer. He did win more games. He did manage more games. He is statistically a far worse manager.

Saw that. He wasn’t exactly friendly/professional towards Eddie either. Wonder if it was to do with aggression/things said during the match or is a more long standing issue? -
I thought Howe would have caught Keegan by the end of this season in terms of points per game (ppg; PL only). In reality he has drifted back to being closer, league performance wise, to Robson. Still second best in our PL/Premiership era, which doesn't even take account of his superior performance in cups (in general as well as the win) which is not too shabby by anyone's standards. However, guess I am saying that even though he will chalk up more league wins, to take him past 83, a more nuanced view is the ppg; and he has gone backwards on this stat. On the cup superiority, Howe has won 61.5% of 52 games. Robson won 51.8% of 58 games, and Keegan won 52.3% of 44 games.

King Edward of the bay. Has a nice ring to it.

Good call/spot. Thought he was top class (and very much a NUFC/Howe type) in most recent Euros.

Maybe we should just pedal the tools.
