It’ll be 36 if Longstaff goes.

He’d be a great signing for Leeds, if he settles in well could be a real difference maker.

Not sure about them all, but a few of those places are a long way from the beach. Crosby must be about 7 miles from the City Centre of Liverpool for example and I wouldn’t fancy the walk from Waverley Bridge to Portobello beach! Not seen anything about it, but I quite like the City by the sea, re-brand idea. They’ve some nice bits of coastline to sell. I found out that Whitley Bay was actually called just Whitley until the early 20th century (‘Bay’ added to differentiate from Whitby—a competing spot for tourists). Given the negative connotations (for some) of ‘Sunderland’ maybe a similar name change might help? I mean apparently, the name grew from being a ‘Separate Place’ ( land cut asunder) within the village of Bishopwearmouth. So maybe they could go for names with historical significance, Monkwearmouth north of the river and Bishopwearmouth on the south side. Not the catchiest examples but might help with the optics and to compete for visitors with, say Morecombe Bay, which is larger population-wise but not a city obviously so they have that to sell as well.

I’m a bit conflicted, the gap between divisions is becoming ridiculous and I always find myself backing the underdog. But if Burnley become an established PL club, where on Earth are we going to go goalkeeper shopping? Guess it’ll have to be Leeds (…not much in it mind!).

Is it too late to turn gay in your 50s? Asking for a friend.

Needs to sort his wardrobe out first, for me, GP. Can’t be doing with that sort of sartorial mess mortifying our super sharp-dressing squad. (Actually, sod it. He can come as is; he’ll just have to room with Gordon).

Needs to buy the right waist size. That’s rucking-up is what happens when I pull my belt too tight on my roomy 36 inch waisters (I wish…).

Geordie Scali. Make it happen.

A football club that doesn’t work weekends? Perhaps we’ve shut down for the summer like a school. Would explain a lot.

You would know, because if you’re not ‘Phil’s’ brother you can only be his fatha. Probably have a full on Gaylord Fokker style glory wall for Paul ‘the chancer’ Mitchell.

Came across a list of British transfer records/milestones through the decades. Highlights for me were: Sunderland breaking the £500 barrier in 1902 and splashing the cash on Alf Common. They were rewarded for their investment as Alf also broke the £1,000 barrier when transferred to Middlesbrough three years later. in 1922, Syd Puddefoot (I mean, c’mon…, you can practically smell the Maccasser-oiled hair) went from West Ham to Falkirk to be the first player to cost £5,500. There was evidently money to be had from Scottish football and perhaps a more equal footing between the leagues. Jump forward to 1957 and John Charles is off to Juventus, from Leeds United, for the princely sum of £65,000 (quite a jump in record fee as well). Dennis Law followed suit in 1961 going to Torino for £110,000, from Manchester City. The great Martin Peters (they were all great to be fair) hopped across London (West Ham to Spurs) in 1979. Spurs breaking the £200,000 barrier to get their man. King Kevin was the first man worth half a million, when he went to SV Hamburg from Liverpool in 1977. Trevor Francis cost more than double by 1979, Forest paying £1,180,000 to Birmingham for his services. Other North East notables: Bryan Robson £1.5m in 1981 (West Brom to Man Utd); Chris Waddle £4.25m in 1989 (Spurs to Marseille); and, of course, Alan Shearer £15m in 1996 (Blackburn Rovers to Newcastle United). http://www.midfielddynamo.com/transfers/milestones_british.htm

This deserves some love.

Is your name Grant?
-
Need your hedges done?
-
Totally. He’s friendly with two of our team, of course we’ll know whether he is into the idea or not.

That’s 10+ years of potential world class defender right there. Couple of years to bed into team as older options (who will start the season) are phased out whilst marinating the team culture. Get him top sports science support and building what he needs to prevent, where you can, serious injury. Assuming there aren’t signs of him being a perma-crock/having a shortened career (nothing to suggest that as far as I can see) and I think he would be ideal.

He was a character Big Jack. Took the Sheffield Weds apprentices up to Scotland to ‘learn their trade’ grouse beating!

Like a German Border Reiver!
-
Did you go to Highfield? (On second thoughts guessing Frau Williams wasn’t ever likely to be the only victim of Geordie high jinks).
-
That’s pretty reliable to be fair. A ‘melt’ every time.
-
Well a continuation apparently.
-
Guessing you don’t mean as in we had one of the best performing ones last season?

Explains a lot… it’s much cheaper to get a dodgy passport if you only need to have a passing resemblance to the original pic

I want this lad more now than when first linked. Alex and Ant our new (Swedish) double act. Make it happen.

You’ll never get a job for Border Force.
