He will get minutes for sure, but he’s not first choice anymore, he knows it, we know it. It’s about self respect, yes this is probably the biggest club he’ll ever play for but the version of it that he led was a shadow of what it’s quickly becoming. The version he led was no better than Norwich or Forest or Burnley. He’s the one who came on the radio to defend Mike Ashley.. “he’s a good guy”.. remember that? As we grow into what we should have been all along we’re quickly seeing who’s out of their depth. Some players will improve and become more, but it won’t be Lascelles. Can he do a job coming off the bench?, yeah sure.. but he could be captaining and starting for one of those lower down sides. The fact he seems content to settle for a bit part role is an indication that he’s accepted defeat already in terms of his career here.

If he was a few years older I’d get him settling for a bench role but he should be in his prime, he should want a move away for that reason alone.

Christ that’s scary but i suppose in a sense he’s very lucky he’s in the profession he is, they’ll be getting checked like that at least once a year, maybe even twice so hopefully this has been caught really early.

Isn’t that why the selling clubs are fucking about so much. You have to admire how City go about their business. Virtually no public haggling they never lowball with their offers but aside from Grealish, don’t seem to overpay much. I thought Sterling at 50 million all those years ago was mental money but it was astute. They knew it was going that way so they just paid what seemed at the time a massive fee that Liverpool couldn’t turn down, but it was actually buttons on what he’d be worth at the same age now.

They're under pressure financially though? Maybe some loans are being called in etc, info line that doesn’t just come out unless they want it to.

What Maxi showed was fairly standard for him, yes some games he can run the show but not often enough for his ability. We haven’t seen much of Anderson but let’s assume that his level, he can more than stake a claim to be in this side. The team we were playing today finished 8th in the Bundesliga last season, comparable to what we managed. So they were no slouches like.

Pretty poor stuff overall. We never at any point had our strongest side out but a lot of performances that will (or should) set some minor alarm bells. I think at this point Anderson has shown he’s capable, he looked a level above ASM to be honest? On what we have currently he deserves a start.. ship Maxi over the right. Longstaff wasn’t great, Murphy was shit, Fraser was non existent and Almiron looked incapable of creating anything. I thought we might have enough as back up to Wilson but I was way off, we desperately need some reinforcements. Midfield and up front. We need 3 players.

Be very surprised if we sold Maxi, he’s capable of better and if that happens loads of clubs will be in for him at a much higher price. I don’t think he’d move to any other PL club so it doesn’t leave loads of places he could go to anyway.

I think Lascelles is an adequate back up to Schär and Burn is more than enough to cover Botman, but I suspect all will feature regularly with the 5 sub rule. Tripps and Krafth are nailed down but I’d like Lewis to at least get a chance to play during pre season, he’s had an injury though which is why he’s not been involved as yes.

Yes would like to remind everyone, the first game last season the team was blowing out their arses after 50 minutes allowing teams to steamroller us, this went on for months until Howe eventually came in and got their fitness up to scratch. We also have a stronger squad now than we did last year, but the one that started last season should have been nowhere near the bottom of the table, not exactly top half but not bottom.. that’s how bad Steve Bruce was. If you take results from January we are a top 8 side already and that was without Wilson for the most part. I’m totally relaxed about who we do or don’t bring in. It’s nothing that can’t wait until January, worst case scenario.

Yeah it’s not a good look. It’s one thing a striker being cocky, Wilson is a bit and Bellamy definitely was and that’s good in some ways but to take the piss out of the place where your club is from screams total wanker and if he’s too dim to not get that anything he does or says in Public is going to be filmed and shat out on social media, that’s another red flag all on its own.

I fully agree, he should be rewarded for his exploits. He knows he’s loved here

So what’s his value? A year ago people would have said less than 10 million.. for me at this point I think he’s up on what the club initially paid for him.

I’m really glad we didn’t go for someone smarmy like Peter Kenyon, not him but you know what I mean. This guy speaks well and comes over as a likeable person. He’s obviously very good at his role and will be interesting to see how much we hear from him in terms of his plans, or perhaps we’ll just get press releases as the coming announcements are made.

Not interested in him in the slightest now, not our player and I hope he won’t be. There’s loads of players out there who won’t want to play for this club, that’s fine. This time last year we were scrounging around for a loan deal with Choudrey, now we’re linked with great players. The rise in our fortunes might come a little soon for some players.. but once we get into the top 6, then top 4.. attitudes will change and that arrogance from certain clubs, agents or players won’t be a thing we have to deal with.

To be honest, I’m just as excited to see if Elliott Anderson will be involved, is he the real deal etc.. if he gets the backup position to ASM then great, he’ll get game time. I think the best position we can fill is right midfield, not forward.. for value at least, if we’re more dominant in the middle, the less tracking back the likes of Fraser or Miggy would have to do so we might see more from them going forward. Or that’s the theory anyway, give them till January and then upgrade if it’s not working.

A family friend who lives in LA used to see Klinsmann playing in a local 5-a-side and then got to know him as he’d be coming into a local bar/restaurant in the early mornings to watch the premier league games. Isak would be an upgrade on Miggy and Fraser but probably not as much as we think or hope he would, he loses the ball an awful lot.
