I don't think we needed any payback, we quite literally relegated them ?
  2. I think we’ve seen his best and it’s downhill from here so am not sure if he’s even maintaining levels from previous seasons. Thats not to say he isn’t a very very good player, he’s still excellent but my point is that wages at a point higher than 200-250k a week have for the most part played a negative part in the trajectory of both club and player. If you’re earning that sort of money, many many times more than a manager etc, you’ll never respect them fully. It’s fuck you money essentially. And then for a club, if you’re paying that sort of money it creates a culture of entitlement while being unmotivated due to the colossal amounts of money involved. Man Utd are a prime example of this.
  3. Aside from Messi and to a lesser extent Ronaldo, has any player who’s been paid more than 250k a week improved on their game (or even maintained that standard) from when they were on less than 100k?
  4. Yep, abusing him on twitter is sure to make the deal happen. ?‍♂️

Which is why we’re persisting with Botman.
  6. Nout to do with us anymore. I don’t even want to think of this cunt while our club is now in the early stages of its revival.
  7. Those companies pay shit wages and undervalue roles like that massively. Pay peanuts, get monkeys etc.
  8. I said it weeks ago that there was a touch of the Anelka about this lad when it comes to whoever was advising him. If his father is also heavily involved that will not be a link that will break so we’ll be dealing with bullshit frequently. If the club have walked away then it’s probably the right call. Again, we’re going on one journos tweet, nothing else.
  9. I would say it’s better value to do it early than right before the transfer window closes. For once it would be nice if all our business was done before pre season started. We have a few weeks.
  10. The flaw in your logic is that we know that PIF haven’t been directly involved in the running of the club yet, that’s been AS & Mehrdad and now that Ashworth is here he’s taking over those duties as well. The former pair although from the finance world, seem to be emotionally involved with the club and fans. Now Ashworth doesn’t come across as being a passionate football fan like say Kevin Keegan was, but he’s not quite a finance person either. Its fair to say that January the club had to pay over the odds for Chris Wood, but otherwise it’s been a fair price for incoming players and we’ve gotten value. They are not going to be ripped off this summer. The French and Spanish clubs will cop onto that fact eventually.
  11. “You’ll pay him how much? you’ve got more money than sense mate”
  12. Of course we’d like some movement but it’s great that they have identified their priority targets and aren’t budging on them. If I was either Etikite or Botman and seeing a calm club not throwing toys out of the pram because it’s not happening quickly, it would be reassuring? Milan are the ones panicking if their itk journalists are anything to go by. I would be worried about PSG though, they could blow us out of the water with wages as FFP doesn’t apply to them seemingly
  13. no, like the club badge is higher up? It’s got nout to do with the stripes
  14. 1 million quid a season to have all that crap littered around SJP and the training ground ? the absolute cheek of the cunt.
  15. They want to pay 30, City want 50 but like Sane with Bayern, there’s always middle ground.. But for one year left on contract I don’t even think 30m is value. Not for the player either who wouldn’t be able to command massive wages like if he were a free agent. And that’s the trend now, you have top players earning massive amounts and then you have the next tier down players who’ve figured out they can jump into that realm if they just run down their contract.
  16. Against us, DCL made a nuisance of himself and probably turned the game where we really should have won. He doesn’t have the pace of Wilson but he’s definitely more mobile than Wood, probably as good as him in the air too. Unless we sign a controlling defensive midfielder this summer, I can’t see our style of play changing that much and that’s how I can’t really see a player like that fitting in. Callum Wilson is perfect if he can stay fit. When he returned at the end of the season we looked a different animal up front, if ASM, Almiron etc can learn to either pass more wisely or not hang on to the ball too long, I could honestly see Wilson break 20 goals and that England conversation will start again, he’s better than DCL..
  17. Can’t see how that does anything but weaken them.
  18. Neither of those positions are a priority for us.
  19. In this day and age, that he spouted off like that shows he’s absolutely naive. But eventually even the naive people will stop blabbering and nobody will ever speak any sort of truth or give their own opinion on anything that’s of any importance to anyone. He didn’t say anything controversial but the owners might be a bit ticked off with him.
  20. Keep coming back to this thread hoping there’ll be a twitter link posted that isn’t complete bullshit ?
  21. There’s always a tweet
  22. I think any club who managed to get him would be getting a bargain for whatever it would cost. Certainly not 100m anymore. He hasn’t played below 25 games a season but yes he has had the same injury a few times. Also had Covid twice. When fit though he’d be like Thiago Silva but way more mobile.
