To go from relegation candidates to playing in the Champions League and winning a trophy in quick succession gave a lot of our fanbase an unrealistic idea of how the future was going to be. Was it amazing? Absolutely. Was it sustainable with the rules that were put in place? Unfortunately not. We peaked too quickly. Had we had a gradual ascent - which would have been completely acceptable especially with what we went through prior to the takeover - I think some fans would have been a little bit more lenient towards Eddie and this blip we’ve gone through this season. I also agree with what @1881 has said above. I think PIF need to reassess their lofty ambitions. Having our CEO come out and continue to plug the “best in the world by 2030” patter isn’t going to help anyone. You’re going to build up the fanbase’s expectations. The way things stand right now, with PSR or whatever term they’re using now, we’re never winning the league let alone being best in the world. If we become a team that fights for Europe and goes on successful cup runs every season, so be it. It’s better than what we had for almost two decades.

We’ll probably get Conference League and he’ll turn around and say it was only Champions League. Then he’ll go on strike.

If true, disappointing after how everyone stood by him during his ban. However, his form has taken a dive off a cliff this season, so maybe best that we cash in now. Another player, much like Isak, who I don’t think got the attachment to Newcastle like Bruno and Joelinton have. If he does go, Bruno is off limits to everyone.
